Simple AND effective
It reads particle count and it does it well. The exterior readings align with my weather forecast and I see near immediate changes when I start generating dust. I think it does use an averaging function over time. I have seen a few odd spikes, but otherwise I have come to trust its accuracy. That's it. It's very small very easy to plug and go. I put magnets on the back to attach to my breaker panel in my shop. This does not try to be very complicated, so find other products at a higher price point if you want customization, bluetooth or data recording.

Giving it a other chance (FAIL)
(Update #2). I got the new meter and it is not much better, I took photos driving around different places and it's still pretty much 0. Sure, it works if you get it near smoke but I've yet to have the outside air get past 1 at anytime. What's up Domino's(Update#1); I exchanged it for another, raised stars from 1 to 4, it too reads all zeros in my house but if I take it outside this one goes up a little. Maybe I just have really clean air around here (Woodland, Wa) , I'm running 2 Winix 5500-2, a Honeywell and on other off brand air purifiers. Still more testing to come when I get on the road. I will update review again. I heard good things about this but my first one didn't function.(Original Monitor ) Previous review; $45 Thermometer, no way my air is that clean. At first the reading went higher and higher, then come down lower and lower until NOTHING! I've been trying different power supplies, the first 2 were apple brand so I don't think it's the power. I also tried waiting 30 min and power on again but it doesn't work

Good at higher particulate levels.
Calibration issue - accurate at high particulate levels, not so much at lower ones.Went through two units and picked the more sensitive one. The new one is 20-50% more sensitive at low particulate levels (below 12ug/m3) but matches up at high particulate levels. Compared to AirNow outdoor AQI readings, all of my meters (including a non-reviewed product) consistently read low, but they all read within 20% above 12ug/m3.Unfortunately the intended application is indoor, and the precision of these sensors is not great. 1ug/m3 is the minimum increment and this puts your AQI value bumping up and down by 4 at a time at the very lowest particulate levels. On the upside, there is no sample averaging so while noisy, the response time to particulate events (eg. cooking) is rapid. The most vexing part about the meter is that it's capable of more; there's a debug mode that shows individual particle count distribution and the raw sensor data could be computed into a more precise ug/m3 figure. Interestingly, ug/m3 calculation done in debug mode doesn't match what's displayed on the normal status screen. A manual calibration mode would be also be appreciated, as readings of zero particles in the debug mode indicates either a low sensitivity sensor, or subtracting a baseline that is set too high.

This one is really good!
This is way beyond my expectations. With this price, this product provides a colored back-lit LED screen, with temperature, humidity, and all kinds of PM numbers and particle counts!! The only downside I can think of is no battery. You have to use your own power bank to make it portable. But I guess asking the seller to provide a rechargeable battery at this price is no different from robbery...

Super reactive
The media could not be loaded. This is an awesome device, it is fast-reactive, I've seen people talking about the 0s, yes when starting up it is 0 for a while, and sometimes during use, but that seems correct, if you click the black button 3 times, you can see more readings, and it is not all 0s, some are, but some are not, that is correct, it is so good that it knows its environment if you start spraying or in my case burning, it will all go up.

Simply Doesn't Work
If you are looking to monitor air quality, not just temperature or humidity, DO NOT get this device. I've had mine for a few months in a wood shop and less than a dozen times it has shown a PM 2.5 value greater than zero. I have an air monitoring station about two miles from my house and the values never go below 10, so this device always reading zero seems wrong. I contacted the manufacture and they said, "I believe the device is in a faulty state.". Unfortunately they don't offer any repairs or exchanges, everything must go through Amazon. Unfortunately I waited too long to return it through Amazon. Given the number of reviews describing similar issues it is hard to believe than an exchange would solve the problem anyway.

Didn’t work out of the box at first
Plugged it in and only the temperature and humidity works. PM2 shows 0 and never changes. Two weeks later it started working, but I can’t tell if it’s accurate in its readings.

It has potential
I bought one of these based on a YouTube video because it looked pretty accurate and offered a lot for the price. However after receiving two units I can safely say the accuracy of these is definitely hit or miss. Unfortunately the two I received were wildly inaccurate and couldn't even agree with each other. With no way to calibrate them they are useless to me and are being returned. For about $20 more I found another brand that offered better out of the box accuracy, and wifi connectivity allowing the use of an app to track data trends, calibrate all of the sensors, and receive alerts if you'd like. I think with some tweaks this unit could be very good, but in its present state I can't recommend it.
