Best gift to myself in 2023!
I didn't purchase this from Amazon; I got it at a warehouse club, and came here to read reviews before purchasing it. Seeing only one written review at the time, I decided to leave a review based on my experience with the product. I LOVE IT!!!The reviewer stating that it doesn't get hot either has a defective product, or is having user error issues. This heating pad has 6 heat settings, with 6 being the hottest, and it gets warm enough to feel the heat at settings 2 to 4. The instructions that come with it probably caution against sleeping on it, but I have done so nearly every night since I got it, and have had it for about a month.I've had a lot of tightness and inflexibility in the mid-upper back, between the shoulder blades that often feels like a knot, and since I've been using the heating pad, it has greatly improved. I have an outlet directly behind my headboard, so I have it plugged in with the pad just below my pillow where I can lay down on it and fall asleep watching TV. The heating pad has a timer that automatically shuts it off after 2 hours, and when I turn it on, I will set it to level 2, 3, or 4; depending on how stiff I feel at the time. It provides wonderful heat that helps to relax the muscles in my back, and is comfortable to sleep on, even after it shuts off. I unplug it when I get up in the morning and leave for the day, just as I would a toaster, an iron or any other appliance that could short circuit and pose a fire risk. That's just common sense. The directions state it can be chilled for use as a cold pack, but I haven't used it in that way, as my primary reason for buying it was for the heat. I had been using 2 (7.5 X 11 inch) microwavable gel packs, placed side by side that were much smaller than this heating pad, and there is no comparison. The problem with the gel packs was not being able to regulate the heat; either too hot or not hot enough, and the heat only lasting maybe 20 minutes or so. Both microwave gel packs eventually had the gel inside the pack bunch up in one spot, making it un-usable, which is why I started searching for electric heating pads, and found the Homedics Weighted Gel Heating pad on sale at my favorite warehouse club, and bought it online. I have been delighted with it, and feel it's the best purchase I've made for myself in 2023. If you're looking for an effective heating pad that's comfortable and easy to use, just get it!
