This is a review for the AMD 7845x & Nvidia 4080 model, with 32 GB RAM and the 1200p 480hz screen: This laptop is working perfectly and scoring extremely well on benchmarks. The only thing you need to do is uninstall Dell SupportAssist (after you use it to update all the lastest drivers/bios) because SupportAssist causes major but brief video/audio stutters every 10-15 minutes. Don't do a custom overclock on this. There's very little upside. If you do, it might bluescreen several times until it auto-reverts to default settings. Just use this on the Alienware performance mode and watch it crush other similar laptops in benchmarks and give you 100-400 fps in modern games at 1200p using the 40 series Nvidia features like DLSS, Reflex, and Frame Generation. The AMD CPU outperforms 11900 i9 (non-OC) desktop CPUS and the 4080 mobile GPU outperforms 4070 desktops GPUs. It's an absolute cutting edge gaming machine for 2024 despite being a laptop because of the giant 18" chassis which allows for adequate cooling, therefore no throttling. Seriously, I could not be happier.

Iv'e always wanted an Alienware after hearing about their powerful and reliable products. One of the things that brought to this laptop was it's thin and super sleek design with its LEDs and many vent holes. When i got it out of the box and started it up for the first time, i only had one minor issue. The issue i had was bluetooth, it keep disconnecting from my mouse and headset. But it was a simple issue and simple fix. It had to do the dolby access app that comes with the laptop. I turned it off, then turned it back on well as ran a troubleshooter. After that i had no issues with the bluetooth. From my experience it seems to be a common thing with laptops that have some form of dolby. My old acer had a similar issue, and was pretty much the same fix. Also, from my experience things like that may happen because you're getting a laptop with all default settings being used for the first time, it just takes a little tweaking, laptops won't be perfect when you first boot them up. With that said, what are my thoughts on this laptop? Well if you need something small and sleek with great power, you can't really go wrong with this one. Alienware is known for gaming performance, and it runs like a champ!!! I get about 80 fps in watchdogs legion with max settings. This is with the rtx 3070ti and AMD ryzen 9 6900 HX version with 32 gig ram. Build quality, build quality lives up to alienware's reputation of high quality. Everything feels very solid as it should be. The sceen has just a slight flex as to be expected with screens, but it doesn't feel like it's coming come off anytime soon. Fingerprints, the laptop doesn't really show fingerprints, but marks will show from time to time if you're like me who has oily skin. So make sure to keep it clean! Cooling, as stated before this laptop has lots of vent holes. And it does prove to be helpful!! Yes the fans can be a little noisy at times, but that's what you can expect from something packing this much power into a laptop. Plus, you can always change the fan settings in the command center if you need. The keyboard, so far i LOVE the cherry keyboard, it's on the louder side and may not be to everyone's taste. But personally, i find the keys to be fast and responsive with them having actual springs and not just membranes like so many other keyboards. The screen, i love the screen with the resolution being 2560x1440 at a max of 240 hz. The pixels are very small giving a clean and clear quality. And the 240 hz makes it very responsive, this is a big step up from my old acer nitro 5 that only had a max of 60 hz!! The battery: The battery will last a decent deal of time, but i wouldn't expect your jaw to drop, this is a power-hungry machine Afterall. The LED's, what can i say I'm a sucker for anything with lights. And this unit has lots of them if you're onto that. You can customize the color of every single key/ the alien head and the lights around the exhausts on the back. You can even have a theme for each game that will automatically turn on when you load your game up!!! Overall i LOVE this beast. Sure its not for everyone and thats fine. But i personally find this a great choice for the money and the amount of technology you get.

UPDATE (12/7/22): I won't update after this but felt I should add that I received the laptop back from "Repair" (for the second time) two days ago. I had an issue last night where it won't restart with an external mouse connected. Got on tech chat and they are sending someone out to replace the motherboard AGAIN. So, this will be the third one for a computer I ordered on 9/3/22. If you have $2000 to gamble, go for it. But you might have better odds at the blackjack table. UPDATE (11/26/22): I’m removing one star because I can’t take two. Less than a month after getting this computer back from Dell (motherboard crashed and was replaced), I went to turn it on this morning and found it was, once again, completely unresponsive. Ran through all the same troubleshooting alone and again with Dell before being told to send it in again. So I’ve owned this for about 3 months and gotten about 6-7 weeks use out of it. This is ridiculous. Reading through other reviews I see I’m not the only one with issues like this but Dell mgr told me today there were “no known problems with this model.” I’m pretty ticked. This is my 3rd AW computer and definitely my last. I will update again if it turns out to be something other than motherboard or if their customer service miraculously improves. The two stars are because it's relatively fast, the screen is good, and the keyboard is the most comfortable laptop keyboard I've ever used. I've owned this m15 (AMD) since mid-September and the motherboard crapped out on me by mid-October. I sent it in for repairs, which that's great and all that it's covered, but it was right at a month old. I'd traveled with it up to that point so basically used it for a few hours at a time (documents, photos, internet) on the road. I noticed it was much heavier than other laptops but figured it's because it's so powerful. (Turns out when I shipped it back, it's just over 12 lbs altogether.) I didn't get to explore much or game with it up to that point. I was really excited to get it back yesterday, but it's been a mess to figure out which drivers I need to re-install. The diagnostics and update search on Dell's website no longer work for it. "Cannot complete..." Once I was finally able to get the Alienware apps back, I made a little more progress getting it set back up. I left the laptop on my desk with the lid closed, on Sleep for half an hour. On a whim, I checked the temps and found that it was running at 118 degrees F, set on "Balanced," with only email left open. Sadly, there is no hibernate option. I have a larger, 240 hz monitor I wanted to use when I'm working or gaming at home, but I can't keep the lid closed because the temps soar. So I'd need the space for it to be open and for the other monitor to be next to it, rather than tucking it under the monitor riser. It's just altogether disappointing and I honestly wish I hadn't bought it. It's not real portable and doesn't substitute for a PC in the way I needed it to. Sadly, this is the second Alienware computer I've felt this way about so I am likely looking for another brand but I'm stuck with a $2000 clunker for now. I'll make do, but how long can I expect it to last given that it bakes even when asleep?

Eight months later… Literally the worst system I’ve ever purchased! It has been replaced and all the issues from the first are in the second. This is the most buggy system ever. When it goes to sleep, it goes into repair mode 90% of the time! It can hold the battery charge for about 30 minutes and then it goes into recovery mode… If you put the lid down while it’s on… It goes into recovery mode! This is just Garbage for the price you pay. This is the second laptop after the first had many many many issues! And it was a lot of work to get it replaced. Replacement is no better don’t waste your money. UPDATE 6! It has been a month and a half since I received this system that has not worked for me yet! Multiple service calls endless hours on the phone. The last promise I had was an exchange was what we were doing and I was to anticipate a phone call to arrange the exchange. At that time I said, I’ll believe it when I hear it because I feel like they’re gonna call and start me all over! Boy was that prophetic! I got a call this week, and I was excited… Until the guy said he was trying to set up a service call because they were looking for a motherboard still I informed him to look at my notes and that it’s been a month and a half and that at this point they were exchanging it. We’ve had three service calls. The parts that were replaced failed. The system doesn’t work … And they started it all over again! The guy acted like there were no notes in my file. I am so disgusted with this company and the lack of concern or care they have for customers time. I paid $3000 for something that still doesn’t work and they won’t exchange it and they don’t have the parts available! I’m at a complete loss and they’ve almost exhausted me to the point where I just want to give up. All I’m guilty of is spending nearly $3000 on a laptop. I can’t return it because Amazon has the policy if you bought it on Black Friday and you return it they won’t exchange it! Even though they sold you a broken device they won’t exchange it cause you bought it at the cheaper rate! That’s who you’re working with stay away from the system because you will lose so much time since I believe this is a build issue. Everything they’ve replaced has the same problems. They replaced the battery the battery port, the battery charger… All of those things still fail. It can’t be unplugged or it will shut down within 10 minutes now. You just can’t use it. None of the USB’s work the USB-C don’t work… It doesn’t hold a charge where you plug in for the AC power. That also doesn’t hold the cord in place! It’s too heavy and the minute you move your laptop even a centimeter the power cord in the back falls out. They replaced that too and I have the same problem. This is a nightmare that doesn’t end. One month and a half later and I’m still sitting with a broken $3000 system that they can’t find parts for and they will not exchange! Absolutely unacceptable. They told me five parts have to replace before they will consider an exchange! Very different than what the other people have been telling me in fact, every time you talk to someone it’s a whole different story and they try to start you over every time it is the most infuriating frustrating system to try to communicate through. They don’t care what you’ve been told. They will set up expectations like… We’re going to exchange your system. The next call will be about that… And then the next call has nothing to do with that and they’re mad at you because , you were set up with expectations they did not meet! This company is a joke Update 5: Still awaiting an exchange. I’ve been through thousand people in customer support, and usually have to start all over quite often. It’s a very frustrating system to navigate. Now I have constant audio tearing, which sounds like static about every two minutes. Waiting for an approval on an exchange! I can’t even believe they have to debate it. At this point. The system is two weeks old. Seriously stay away. Can’t return it via Amazon because I bought it on Black Friday and they will not honor return exchange. Update 4: After waiting for service to show up with a new motherboard and being told multiple times it had arrived it never did. Service never called. Now they are sending me a completely new laptop. They informed me that if they cannot find this laptop, they will upgrade one. so I can at least say the customer service has been responsive it’s just I’ve had to spend too much time with them. I really really don’t recommend this because online my issues were not new so many people had the same things go wrong. None of my ports on my system work now and every time it goes to sleep it awakens saying that windows did not load correctly. It’s pretty much a paperweight now I’m really looking forward to sending it back. Update 3!! Problem still persist. It dies in sleep mode in 30 minutes on a full charge with nothing on. Now they are coming on a third visit to replace the motherboard! If you read the other reviews, there are several people that have had their motherboards replaced. Keep in mind this computer was built 29 days ago! There’s a problem with these. Do not purchase this yet Update 2: now the keyboard turns on, but there’s no screen video. It’s just black. New technician coming out. Power issue was never resolved. Now they think it’s something with the motherboard! There are several reviews that talk about this on here. I wish I had paid attention. this is not what you want to see out of a nearly $3000 computer in the first week. Dell support is terrible and that they give you a day to take off work and then on that morning will tell you the parts not in and to take the next day off. They have done this with each and every technician that has come out. Nightmare. Update: technician came out..could not resolve power issue. It is now not working at all. Won’t turn on. Multiple issues! More now since tech came out! Battery unplugged last 16 minutes! Began beeping and error messages everywhere. 2 hours with Dell support. Sending new battery??? Will return promptly if 2nd battery does not fix issues. Really Really disappointed. Should have given more attention to the reviews below. Dell is sending out technician to install the battery and check the status of everything else. I am in the tech field so I did do some troubleshooting. This is a very, very very expensive expensive laptop to have as many issues as it has. I will say when it was working, it ran half life, Alex on the quest, three flawlessly! And then it just quit working
