Q: how does this work with bt ultimate fast 2

1. You have to connect this with BT Hub via ethernet cable. Disable BT wifi from the BT router. Use ASUS Wifi 2. I have BT FTTP connection which comes with a modem and BT hub. Fibre is connected to modem and then the modem is connected to BT Hub. What I have done is: removed BT Hub for unnecessary wifi congestion. I have connected ASUS directly to the Fibre modem. From ASUS, the connection method I have chosen is PPoE . I hope it is clear now.

Q: does it work with Virgin fibre?

Yes it does, you put the virgin hub into bridge mode (the light on the front of the virgin hub goes Purple)- then use the Asus unit to manage wifi and IP etc. It's very easy to set up, and manage. You can use either the app, or login to a browser to do more detailed configuration. Plug in the ethernet cable into the WAN on the Virgin hub (port 1) into the WAN port port on the Asus unit. The reboot the virgin hub, and then power on the Asus unit. jo done. Point to note, should you lose connectivity to the virgin (As in the recent outages), there is no need to reset the Asus unit, it'll pick up the refreshed gateway IP from the virgin hub automatically.

Q: I have bt fttp and bt sport. does this setup support bt sport on the bt\humax youview box?

I have FTTP with BT. The fibre comes into the house into the Openreach modem. All you need to do is remove your old router (which is connected to the modem), and connect one of the Asus routers directly to the modem in its place. This then acts as the master modem, the other Asus router acts as a mesh node. It is easier to use the phone app to set it up.

Q: What does ‘pack of 1’ mean? 1 ‘pair’ or a single node?
