This test is an autosomomal STR test. Autosomal STR testing is the type of test that is used for DNA identity and relationship. Y-DNA testing is used for tracing male lineage to investigate male ancestry or to see if males descended from the same male lineage. mtDNA testing is for tracing maternal lineage to investigate maternal ancestry, or to rule out whether individuals descended from a common maternal lineage.
