Q: Is there a version without the waffle face?

Estwing does not currently make a smooth faced version of this hammer.

Q: what is the size and shape of top where it goes in eye?

It's shaped like an Almond. It's 1 1/2 inches front to back and 1 inch side to side.

Q: So does this hammer have an inch and half face? True cali framer?

This is a great framing hammer. It does have a 1 1/2 inch face. The wooden handle has good grain for strength. I don't know what you mean by a true Cali framer, but this is a really great framing hammer.

Q: What is the warranty on this hammer? Can I get this with a fiberglass or one piece metal handle?

No warranty. I had a handle break on me, but just don’t rely on this to pull 20d nails out of 6x8 syp all day. Drives nails like a boss. I picked up the 28 oz version with the all metal handle, but I’m missing the nail setter and the curved handle.
