Is this a solid block of wood? Is the wood actually walnut, or is it stained?

Yes a solid block no lamentation. The wood was stained in the walnut hue. Manufacturer must attest to actual variety of wood as product I examined was stained and wood surface visible did not render for my untrained eye enough characteristic traits to dispute the vendors claim. Appearance was excellent and professional. Recipient was thrilled and it is now proudly displayed in their work cubicle.

I only want a name (no title) can you vertically center the name?

The images didn't deceive you, this is exactly the stately kind of name plate that is right at home on the desk of a C-level. The wood is attractive and solid, and the engraving comes out just the way you would hope. If you're using this for its intended purpose, I can't see anyone complaining. I, however, used it for a stupid gag gift and the fingerprints I saw on the nameplate when it was delivered made me realize another human being had seen my awful joke name/title combination.

Good quality and correct spelling of words

Perfect gift for my dad in his new office! Writing was correct as I requested. Real wood used. Walnut color of wood is very nice. The gold font comes out clear and readable. My dad loved it!

Professional and expensive looking

I bought this as a gift for a coworker and she loved it. She had it on her receptionist desk at the office and gets compliments all the time. This is a very nice professional looking nameplate. I got the black base bc I read reviews that the redwood bases were really red. I plan to order more of these as gifts and maybe even one for myself

Really nice but should be package better for shipping.

I am very happy with this purchase but it did get a dent in it which I’m sure was caused by shipping. Needs to be packaged better so that nothing can happen to it during the shipping process. The quality of the product itself is excellent and I do love it. Just wish it didn’t have a little dent on the top of it.
