Shoddy tolerances make for a less than perfect cut
I had high hopes for this cutter and couldn't wait to try it out on my torpedos as well as my parejo shaped cigars. The first thing i noticed upon opening and closing the cutter on air was how sloppy the action was. On full extension, there is a lot of wiggle from the blades which did not bode well for cutting. So on to cutting some cigars! On the torpedo, the backplate gimmick didn't take enough of a cut for me, but it was easy to remedy by recutting several times until I got the draw where i wanted. However, I thought the backplate gave the right depth of cut for the parejos which is nice for cutting in low light conditions. The resulting cuts on both were, as expected from the lack of precision in the blades, poor. The cutter would leave a weird ridge in the cut as the blades moved up and down so you are not able to get a smooth, flat cut across the cap. I tried this on several cigars to see if there was a trick to it, and had no luck getting the cut i wanted. In conclusion, i wouldn't recommend this cutter as it is just not made well enough to get a good cut, unless of course you like funky ridges in your cigars. I'm able to get a far better cut from my $2 cheapo cutter than I am from this one.

2 months old cutter broke!
I received this cutter June 17, 2019. I’ve used in maybe 10 times since then as I don’t smoke cigars all of the time.It cuts the cigar okay for being an inexpensive cutter. It just broke so this is why the review. Spend more money and get a better cutter.

Great for the price. Doesn't expect the best feel quality but great cut quality.
Cuts perfectly but the build quality equals the price. Not mad though since it does the job, favorite cutter for lounges
