Mossberg Barrel Clamp
This is a heavy-duty barrel clamp that will work for many of the Mossberg shotgun models. It is easy to attach to the shotgun and look good. Good material and will work well with most attachment hardware of a shoulder sling. I have this model attached to my Model 590. I would recommend this clamp.

It's been mentioned in a previous review that if you buy this to affix to the magazine tube right in front of the forend, it won't fly. This thing was meant to go on either 20" 590a1's or those 18" guns rocking extension tubes. I bought this to keep an S&J Hardware extension from unthreading during fire. The OD of the extension matches the Mossberg tube, and this clamp fits perfectly, thick barrel and all.Measure up before you buy (Or just... know what gun you have). 590a1 bbl OD 1" from muzzle: 0.934", S&J extension OD at the same location: 1.006". This clamp fits like a glove. The finish is Melonite and matches the SGA rear sling plate. All steel; comes with loctite on the clamp screw in addition to nuts should you want to remove the sling loop and just have the clamp plain. For those looking for a light/sling mount for an 18" barrel and no extension, see CDM Gear. If you need a place to hook up your MS series sling or need a clamp with a small footprint to secure an extension, look no further.Mine did not come with pads to separate the clamp from the barrel/magazine and that's quite alright. It's a shotgun. What's more, a little electrical tape can fix that.Update 7/22: Three range trips with this clamp, nothing but high brass fired. I've since removed the sling loop. This clamp has not moved at all under repeated magazines of 2 3/4" and 3" shells.

Worked for me
Worked great on my Mossberg 590a1.Had no issues with the install at all. Took less than 5 minutes.Have removed more than a few times and no marring has been evident on the barrel or magazine tube that I could see.Keep in mind the sling swivel is rigid. it does not swivel once installed. You need to make sure you have it set the way you want when you tighten it down. There is also a swivel on the opposite side of the rigid one. I just put the swivel on the side that I wanted to use. The swivel side is anti-rotation.Very nice little setup and as always Magpul puts out consistent and quality products.

Nifty
The 590A1 is not the most common shotgun made, so it's impressive there are many accessories for it at all. With the standard long magazine for shells, the end cap would have a swivel and sling extending beyond the barrel. This is obviously less than ideal. So Magpul came up with this solution to create a new attachment point between the barrel and the magazine. There are, however, a few points that could be improved upon.A sane person would be hesitant to mount a piece of metal onto their corrosion resistant barrel and magazine, knowing that the newly added piece of metal is going to rub off the coating from your shotgun. Magpul thought of this, but they sure didn't think about it very long. They include little polyester pads that are supposed to be stuck to the insite of the sling mount before you tighten it. The first problem is, they don't tell you that they included this. At the same time I ordered this I also went to a craft store and purchased my own materials, which proved unnecessary. Then, they include these small swaths of material, but you the customer are supposed to guess at the correct size with scissors, and then attach them yourself. It feels like the after-thought that it probably was, and I'm about 40% certain the barrel won't be marred. My recommendation is that you cut the pieces purposefully too large and let them look as stupid as Magpul intended them to with their cheap, haphazard approach so that your barrel is absolutely protected. There is an allen bolt on one side (9/64'ths, so you don't have to guess. The directions sure aren't going to tell you) without the required wrench. Ok, no big deal. What I disliked was that there is a TINY little bit of blue thread lock (too little) but they already screwed the threads together, wasting the efficacy of this thread lock before you install it. Get yourself some blue thread lock and reapply before you assemble. In the bag there are also two tiny little nuts (not for squirrels or for your truck) but I have no idea what they're for.Excellent idea. Excellent design. Excellent machining. Dreadful directions and follow through with the barrel protection and threadlock. I'm glad it exists, but I'm sad that the numbers nerds botched it. The part is $37.95, and I feel I can speak for everyone in saying that if it was done correctly and they charged $39.99, we would all be happier.

It fits my 590!
Pretty solid. I ordered the 590A1 by mistake but it surprisingly fits my 590 perfectly and I don't have the A1 barrel. The included pads to protect the tube and barrel had zero stickiness however.
