Great Kayak cooler
This works perfectly on my Hobie Mirage Passport. The color even matches. The built in rod holders work great for placing my different rods. No problems keeping things cold on a day trip, and that is all I am really asking of it. A few beers and my lunch keep plenty cool with an ice block.

Worth every penny
So incredibly happy we decided to go with an Engel instead of a Yeti or Rtic etc. Saved a ridiculous amount of money and it is an amazing cooler!!! With rod holders. 10 stars!!!

Totally worth it
The cooler is very practical if you’re a kayak fisherman. I store Plano cases and food. Does the job and love the additional rod holders

Very nice cooler, but two major flaws that make it worth 1/2 its price.
This is my second Engel Cooler/Dry box. Though I have a rotomolded Sportsman, I found it not only overkill for my needs, but also too bulky and heavy. If you need 4-5 day ice retention, the Engel cooler/dry box cooler is not for you. Disregard the reviews that complain of it not holding ice for more than a day or so. That's unfair. These coolers are designed to be portable. When I go surf fishing, it's usually for a day or so and a lightweight cooler such as the 19 quart fits the bill. Easy to lug along, large enough for a few nice pompano, whiting, etc. So why three stars? Because a $68 for a 19 quart cooler, I expected more. For example, once this thing has ice in it, it's still going to be kind of heavy. Why not a PADDED shoulder strap instead of the sharp-edged nylon cheap-@$$ed strap they include? No excuse on a premium cooler to include 98-cent cheap shoulder strap when spending a little extra would really make for nice transportation of the cooler. The lid opens via. plastic hinges. I don't have a problem, per say, with nicely designed plastic hinges. But why make the latching mechanism out of stainless, then use plastic hinges to introduce a weak / fail point. Furthermore, and most importantly, there is no durable "stop" with the plastic hinges. If you open the cooler and someone leans over in a beach chair onto the open lid, I'm certain that will break the hinges. Engel should have included a short length of stainless cable to prevent the plastic hinges from making the STOP point on the lid. They simply are too under designed for that.Again, I don't mean to imply this is not a quality cooler. It is, but because of just a couple of areas where obviously Engel was trying to save pennies, their decisions will jeopardize what could have been a premium cooler worth every penny. As it is, it's hard to see how the Engel 19 quart cooler can command $68, when an Igloo with an extra $10 bucks in some user mods would be as good, or better, at 1/3 of the price.Come on, Engel. You can do better.

Better than a Yetti.
This product, you can take to the construction site, and the ice don't melt fast, lasts and stays cool.

but are too reasonable to light money on fire and buy a Yeti so you could get a cool sticker and post it on the back windshield
If youre looking to step up from a cooler you bought at walmart, but are too reasonable to light money on fire and buy a Yeti so you could get a cool sticker and post it on the back windshield of youre truck/car....this is the cooler for you.No, its not gonna hold ice all day just like the moment it is when you put the ice in...but it will keep enough ice, and hold a low enough temperature to keep your drinks cold all day. A yeti wont hold ice all day either btw...go to youtube and watch the comparissons. I hold 9 beer cans, and 6-8 dasani water bottles...and still have space on top for the tray.I use this on the back of my 10 foot kayak, but with only 2 of the rod holders. Its a pretty big piece of equipment once the rod holders are on it....but its worth it since now im carrying 4 rods around instead of 2...and I didnt have to screw any holes into my kayak, just buy this sweet cooler! Im in a small kayak so I havent used it as a seat....im 250 lbs tho, and I would be willing to try it. Since im so heavy its prolly not ideal...but if i was 180 and below...i think I would feel comfortable regularly sitting on it as a seat on my yak.

19 quarts is great for a day trip.
The size 19 quarts is great for a day trip. The rod holders work well. The plastic hinges are weak, but easily replaceable. I expected higher quality.Made In Thailand.
