Easy to use
For DYI repair work it works excellent!Cutting notched areas it takes a little practice but overall it's worth every dollar. I've replaced harder siding on homes, started with a grinder, then used a manual guillotine, and now this it's quick and no mess.

Large job, no problems.
I was doing a unique job of putting in 55, 4’x8’ sheets of hardie panel. It was the bottom 3’ of the wall, below a chair rail. So I had 55 sheets that I had to rip to 3’x8’. I bought this tool but did not think it would last. Well it did. It cuts clean, little to no airborne dust, and follows a line with ease. Last of the 55 8’ rips was as clean and effortless as the first. Used on 5/16” hardie panel. Makes an 8’ cut in 20 seconds or so. Also, I had some boards that I had to shave an extra 1/8” off to make them fit right. The gap in the shears is 1/4”, but you can ride just one of the guides and make a minute cut. Doesn’t cut as smooth as a angle grinder, and can’t make butt joints with it. But still a pretty clean cut.

Easy to use and no dust
I am in the process of residing my entire house over three summers at very roughly 1600 sq ft of siding. I am a little over half done now and one summer remaining. The siding I am using is 6.25 inch fiber cement board siding. The shears give pretty good cuts very quickly and easily and with no dust. The correct blade on a miter saw will give a "better cut" but that has downsides of dust and setting up for the cut. I would guess that about 75% of the cuts I have made have been using the shears and about 25% using a blase. The cut with a blade is a little better but most of the time you do not need the cut that good if the edge is covered by trim and you do get better at using the shears. If you are going to do any quantity of siding, these shears should be part of the tools available.

No regrets! Guaranteed!
Coming up on 50 years in the Construction biz…handyman now. Just did some Hardie plank siding and was using my circ saw with an old blade….lots of dust, sometimes on a long cut, I shut’r down and get outside the dust cloud to take a deep breath, because I can’t hold my breath too long.A great day for me would be when the wind was blowing. I would set up my cut area to coincide with the dust being blown away, of course. Now, heaven for me is cutting with these shears… Wow. Nice, clean, fast, and hardly ANY dust. Goodbye to me rubbing cement dust out of my eyes for 3 or 4 days, waking me up at night, etc.. Even better, the health benefit of not breathing that poison in has got to be phenomenal! To all my fellow contractors that cut cement board, BUY this tool! I have 2 heart attacks in the rear view mirror, one quad bypass, and was told to avoid dust. I have to work up until the final day. This tool really helps. Protect your health brothers and sisters.

Works excellent cutting cement boards.
I have used this shear on 1/2" thick HardieBacker with HydroDefense and uncoated 1/4" thick cement boards for my shower and it works really well. The variable speed trigger makes it easy to cut effortlessly. It cuts circles better than I expected, but for a round drain hole I used a hole saw outside. It requires carefully holding the shear level when getting to the end of the board to get a complete clean cut. I found it very intuitive to get good cuts keeping the tool in the same attitude and varying the speed for different feed rates.
