Very sturdy and well made
I am using these to store water in a greenhouse. I needed a very specific size to fit the top row of water barrels that I’m using to maintain heat during the winter. Normally I would have ordered metal barrels but these were the perfect size. I wish these came in black to absorb the heat better, but they do add fun color to my greenhouse! I specifically avoided softer rubber like Rubbermaid because it might break down over the years. This is so sturdy I imagine it will last quite a while! Note that you could absolutely sit on them if you wanted to use them for storage combined with a small stool. As for water storage- they work great for my purpose, which does not involve any movement after they are filled. I did notice that if you fill them pretty full and are moving them, a little splashes from the top. I thought I had the lid screwed on very tight, but it’s possible I didn’t. Just be aware if you’re filling it with something and plan to move it and wouldn’t want it to leak.

Perfect size for fermenting whole heads of cabbage
Perfect size for fermenting whole heads of cabbage. Make sure to use non-iodized salt. That is key to getting perfect non-slimy brine. Use 1 tablespoon (standard measuring spoon) to one liter of water. Use more rather than less. A little horseradish root, quince - 2 or 3 pieces sliced (for color), some dill stalks with seed. I used the larger 30 gallon version of this barrel with flat head cabbage (total of 18 pieces). Came out perfect in about three weeks at room temperature. I used this 20 gallon barrel with larger, much heavier type of cabbage (9 large heads) and 18 gallons of water. I stored at room temperature for at least 6 weeks. So much better tasting then typical sauerkraut and perfect for cabbage rolls. I especially like the lid on these containers. With a small piece of 2x4 cut to size you can open and close lid very tightly. I removed the black foam gasket tape from the inside of lid though. That's absolutely not food safe. I was so happy to find these containers. Beats fermenting cabbage in small 5 gallon buckets. Even with all that weight I can move it around slightly and it feels solid as a rock. I will buy again in the future as gift for relatives. One last thought: The container and the lid both have minor plastic flash and relatively sharp edges from molding process. Amazon sells plastic deburring tool (about six bucks) which will clean out the edges nicely. You will then have a perfect container.

Nice and heavy
I needed a weatherproof container to leave outside with animal feed in it and it works well for this. The first time I tried to open it I had a lot of trouble; I didn’t realize how deep the lid was. I also make sure I don’t screw it on tight because it’s awkward to handle. I left one too loose and ants got in but I’ve since learned the right tightness for me to open yet keep bugs out. I bought two of them and have had them several months through torrential rains and now extreme heat (110 yesterday), so far so good. I have tried metal barrels, big trash barrels and other plastic barrels but none have worked this well.

Water changes are so easy now.
This makes water changes so much easier to deal with in my house.Water changes with five gallon buckets are a good workout, but screw that noise. The lid fits and seals just fine. The container came with a large 10" diameter dimple, but I'm not too concerned with aesthetics when it comes to aquarium water changing tools. My fish room is much easier to deal with because of this well priced large bucket that fits on moving carts and still manages to fit under my work bench.

A sturdy Smaller Bear-Proof Trash Can!
I love the thickness and size of this trash can. However, the rubber seal is coming loose. May I get another rubber seal, please?

Great for JADAM
Got this for making JADAM ferment. Caught the rain water, added my garden breakdowns and unused crops along with leaf mold and there it sits, fermenting for next years garden crops. Lid screws on/off easily and is air tight without having to break my nails unlike other air tight containers. No special tool to open. No way any animal is opening this things unless a bear gnaws through it but why? It’s rotting greens. Perfect for my use

Perfect for holding horse feed, this size barrel holds three 50 lb bags of pelleted feed.
Absolute best feed barrel for my horses. This barrel holds THREE 50 lb bags of pelleted horse feed. There's no chance of a horse getting this open, however, for a person they are quite easy to spin off or on with two hands. This size barrel is nice to reach into the bottom when the feed gets low. The barrel keeps the feed dry and free from rodents. My neighbor recently lost a mare because she got in the feed that was kept in an old freezer, now he uses these barrels. They are sturdy heavy duty barrels, which would probably work great for storage of items in a damp basement. I own six of thes barrels, I use them for my horse feed and I love them!

Bear Problem Solved: Had this for almost a year and it's still working great.
The media could not be loaded. Starting in the Spring and running all the way through October we have black bears patrol the neighborhood looking for easy calories.Putting my garbage in this container until the morning of pickup has solved all of the problems: no cleaning up after the bear and the garage doesn't smell.See the video, this is just a little-guy surfing on the can. he punched a couple holes in the rim, but never made it into the can. Note, the larger sow and boar haven't made it into the canister either.I'm using this same can almost a year after purchasing it. works fine.Note: last week, a bear punched a couple holes in the bottom rim... ended up being helpful to drain rain water and muck. Might do that myself on the next one I purchase.
