This switcher has been a game changer!
This switcher is packed full of amazing features. I have a Blackmagic 10x10 Video Hub, so I wanted an SDI switcher that I could run cables to straight from the Video Hub. This has plenty of inputs and I love that it has 4 different outputs. I also like how that Blackmagic allows you to use the outputs like a video router rather than just allowing program/multi view feeds. One issues that I couldn't quite figure out was the audio. I kept having issues from the sound board running audio across different cables into this switcher. I finally just bought an audio to SDI mini converter and now run the audio into the switcher using one of my SDI inputs. I like how the switcher allows you to set it all up the way you want it and then save the startup state so that it works the same way every time. There are so many functions to this that it it's really a great value for the money.

Overheating could be an issue
First of all let me say we use this little switcher ALL the time (usually at minimum of 10 hours per day) and have never once had any issues. A company who we contract with bought a dozen or so and had issues with several. I won't go into great details about the failures because it's never happened to us even once. We believe the reason for that is because we mounted ours on a laptop cooling pad along with a Decimator MDHX, 1X4 HDMI DA, and a power strip. After hearing about the issues from other operators, while we were on site using one of theirs we set a four water bottle caps under the one we had on site and had no issues. We suggested to the company it might be an overheating issue and instead of returning them to try a similar solution. To my knowledge there haven't been any more issues in almost a year now.We only use these units as primary / backup switchers for GFX & Prompting so all the other bells and whistles don't come into play.I have used them in other situations for other companies and the real reason I am giving this a four star review is the unbalanced audio interface on these puppies. Whoever thought this was a good idea obviously knows nothing about balanced / unbalanced audio.I could go on but if you got this far and plan on using this with audio STOP. Friends don't let friends used unbalanced audio. Maybe if you are setting up in a small studio you will be OK. Even then I cringe at the thought. However, if you are doing field production you will get bitten on the A$$. I spelled it that way because if you end up with dirty audio in the field you are going to lose money at the least, clients perhaps, and worst of all former clients and / techs who tell others how really awful you were.

Unit came through Quality Control with MAC address of 00:00:00:00:00:00
I agree with most on the excellent functionality, form factor, and just about everything good about the unit. I gave it two stars as the NIC (ethernet port) came through un-programmed with the MAC address of 00:00:00:00:00:00 which makes it un-locatable /addressable on the network - which means streaming is not possible. There are posts from as far back as 2020 on the Blackmagic forum concerning this problem, yet four years later, units with this problem are still making their way to consumers. The Quality Control on a nearly $2K piece of electronics should be better.

Industry standard powerhouse
Perfect brain for the live video capture unit I'm building. Blackmagic Design's ATEM SDI Extreme ISO is one of the leading options to get the job done.

Powerful - Great Upgrade
Picked up for our church AV refresh/upgrade. Quite a leap from our old ATEM Television Studio. Opted for SDI to get the locking connectors. Opted for Extreme to get the extra outputs, but it would have been nice to know that the physical Video Out buttons on the unit only apply to Output 1. Extreme also adds an extra Media Player and physical buttons for both. Planning to experiment with SuperSource and while it looks powerful, not sure if we’ll actually use it. Coupled it with an Elgato StreamDeck and BitFocus Companion to help create some “automation” to ease the load on the volunteer operators during live production. So far so good. No longer need Media Express to record (unit records straight to portable storage) or OBS for encoding (single encoder built in). Also confirmed that the 2nd USBC can work for either additional storage OR presents ATEM Program out as a WebCam when connected to a computer, in case we want to continue using OBS or some external software encoder for additional simultaneous live streams. Loving it so far!Buttons LEDs are SUPER bright but can be adjusted via software. Also, by default the device was set for “A/B Direct” Transition Control - which means you don’t have to sent inputs to preview before sending to Program. Totally threw me off at first but switched it to “Program / Preview” to match what I was used to. However, I can see how A/B Direct could really make things easier in some setups.Lastly, the number of buttons on the board makes it look intimidating but a bunch of them seem to be for camera controls (not PTZ control but color, focus, iris, etc), which we likely won’t use with our Birddog P200 and AVKANS PTZs.
