A book of two distinct halves
This was very slow to start and our protagonist didn't endear herself to me with her lies and deception, despite her being a victim. The things she did were so unbelievable or so unrealistic that I pondered throwing the book in several times. In fairness, however, things did get exciting and interesting from about two-thirds of the way into the book and there were a couple of well-delivered twists. This is not a legal thriller, as court time is minimal, but it eventually becomes an engaging story despite being well over-the-top overall.

Just dark enough!
I wasn't sure about buying this as sometimes stories relaying graphic assaults can be too much, but this book achieved just the right amount of darkness! The characters were well written and easy to sympathise with. The story was well paced and I found myself totally immersed in the plot. An absolute page turner.

wow
First book by this author. Really enjoyed it, a real page turner and well written. Just wanted to keep reading to see the outcome, very gripping and looking forward to reading more from Lia Middleton.

Excellent
Lia Middleton’s second book didn’t disappoint, after I had loved her debut thriller When They Find Her so much. Your Word or Mine is, if anything, even more of a page-turner, with twist after twist that I didn’t see coming.I loved the courtroom scenes, particularly, they felt properly authentic, coming from a writer who is also a barrister.Five stars from me, and will be looking out for the next one with anticipation.
