Adventure Awaits! - 2 Pack Hand-Carved Wooden Tops Trompos with Strong Steel Point - Smooth Finish!

I got these for my son. I had played with tops as a kid and was excited to get him into them! Alas, I was disappointed. I was able to finally get the ribbed top to spin, but the provided cord was very cumbersome and did not work to the purpose well. The smooth top I could never get properly would in order to try a spin. I was very disappointed. :(

A simple toy that doesn't require batteries and the need for skill keeps you busy playing with them. String is long enough and smooth wood means no worries of splinters.

These 2 fabulous wooden tops with the steel point spin great. Getting the pull and throw was too difficult for the youngsters to figure out, but the older kids and the adults had fun with these simple toys.When you really get the tops going they will stay up spinning for a good while.Although the youngsters were not able to work the tops on their own, they really enjoyed watching the tops spin when the older kids and adults spun them.

I saw some spinning tops and based on my kids affinity for these types of things, I picked them up. Problem is, I have no idea how to get these working. There are no directions in the package or in the product description on Amazon. My search around Youtube shows similar products that aren't exactly the same but they don't really translate to this toy. A video in the product description or directions in the package would go a long way on how to make these work. These are definitely quality wood products, but I can't really unlock their full potential yet.

My 14 year old nephew has quite the collection of tops and likes to drive us all crazy by getting as many spinning at once as possible.So he considers these as revenge.....they just won't work. Apparently you're supposed to be able to tie the string in such a way that allows it to be held in place by wrapping it around the top, but these are too slick for his usual method. He tried swapping the thick string out for a thinner one with the same result. He gave up on the completely smooth top but continues to try to get the grooved one to work.I'll report back if he figures out the secret!

These are sturdy tops, and the metal balance points are nice. The biggest problem I have had with them is a lack of instructions. The strings seem a bit thick, but perhaps I don't know as much about tops as I should. Directions for how to best use it, maybe some technique tips, would have been great. Failing that, though, overall they are quality pieces.

The media could not be loaded. It took awhile to get the 'feel' back of how to spin a top, and it was a lot of fun playing and re-learning the skill! I ended up in a spirited discussion of how many times 'around' the string needs to be wound. You see in my video that I wind it all up. My friend said two or three loops is enough, and sure enough, it will spin just fine. So, I learned a new technique! But then, being competitive, I suggested we time the spins, and my 'wind the string all the way' method results in about eight seconds longer of spin. Ha! Oh, these are fun to play with!

Oh how I wanted to love these pretty tops....but.....we just can't get them going! While the wood grain is so good looking and smooth, the string is very thick and doesn't seem to work with these tops. We tried and tried but so far no luck. We are not giving up and will continue to get even one of them spinning. I wish instructions were included to be sure we're not doing anything incorrectly. They really are beautiful and look very well made!
