GOOD QUALITY BULBS - EXCELLENT SPROUT RATE - GOOD COMPANION PLANT FOR KALE
PLANT THEM AS SOON AS YOU GET THEM!I am going to start by admitting that I sat on these bulbs for a little too long. I lost about 1/3 of them to moisture damage (but that’s on me). However, what I was able to plant has been doing very well! (See my photos of sprouts)TIME OF YEAR I NORMALLY PLANTIn my area of the south, I normally plant garlic at the beginning of October. This time it was more like the third week of October. That should still be early enough for the plants to get established before it gets very cold.GREAT COMPANION PLANT FOR KALE – BOTH WHILE GROWING AND WHILE COOKINGThis year I am planting garlic as a companion plant for my Red Russian Kale. Even though freezing temps will kill bugs wanting to dine on my kale, the garlic will protect it even more (bugs hate the smell). If you look very carefully at my photo of multiple garlic sprouts, you’ll be able to make out some kale sprouts. I threw the kale seeds all over, but when they get larger, I’ll plant them more neatly between garlic stalks.Plus, garlic is not just a good companion to kale while growing… it makes a great skillet companion when sautéing it too!SOFT NECK GARLIC FOR THE SOUTH – RESEARCH WHETHER SOFT NECK OR HARD NECK IS BEST FOR YOUR AREAAs a side note, here in the south, I always plant soft neck variety garlic. You might want to do some research about what kind of garlic is best for your area (soft neck or hard neck).FINAL THOUGHTS – VERY REASONABLE PRICE FOR A GENEROUS SIZE PRODUCTOverall, I am very pleased with this product. The price was reasonable, and the quantity was generous (which was fortunate since I bungled planting). I will try to update this review come late spring when it will be time to harvest.

Planted!
Arrived in time to get planted prior to the snow started to fall... I cannot wait to see it growing in the spring!! Bulbs look healthy, nice size and had many large cloves to separate and plant!

Did not germinate. Lesson learned.
I’ve planted garlic the last few years with great success. I normally purchase new varieties from a reputable supplier in Ohio but decided to add a new variety and purchased from Amazon. Out of all of my varieties planted last fall, those from Amazon were the only that didn’t come up this spring. Lesson learned!

Maybe for planting, not for eating
Bulbs are tiny but firm, so I guess they would be good for planting. Thanks to the merchant for accepting my return.

They’re pretty
They’re pretty and look healthy. Some of the cloves were huge! That makes me happy! They’re planted and covered next year we’ll know for sure, but for now I’m thinking two thumbs up👍🏼👍🏼
