soothing for aches
The balm has a noticeable warmth when rubbed into the skin, which felt quite soothing on tired muscles after a workout. The scent is quite herbal and not overpowering. It absorbed reasonably well without leaving a sticky residue. I found it particularly comforting on my lower back after a long day at the desk. A small amount seems to go a long way. It’s a comforting balm for those aches and pains that occasionally crop up. Using it provides a gentle, warming sensation.

Emu oil? Sorry, emus.
Erm, like other reviewers I thought this product just had a quirky Aussie name, rather than actually being made of emu fat. I'd used it before I really 'engaged' with the product list. It reminds me of stories my nan used to tell me about rubbing in goose fat to prevent colds (? I bet it did, no one would come near you!)The positives: relatively easy to apply (this may not be the case with a cooler ambient temperature, but at current, warm-ish room temperature, it's fine)It's reasonably absorbentIt definitely has an odour, but it's not as overpowering as the likes of Deep Heat. A scaled-down version of that perhaps.I used it on DOMS after some long training runs - some low-level effects noticed (some warming, some mild relief of muscle soreness)However:It is quite expensive for a product which isn't as efficacious as some of the cheaper, medicated brandsIt's listed as 'cruelty free', which with the best will in the world, is a bit of a reach

Bit of a Let Down for the Hype
Gave this a try after reading some positive reviews, but honestly, I’m not feeling the magic. The balm smells alright and you do get a bit of warmth after rubbing it in, but it fades pretty quickly and didn’t really touch the aching joints I was hoping it would help with. I’ve used other deep heat type creams before that had more of a kick to them, so this felt a bit tame in comparison. It’s not terrible, just underwhelming. The texture is fine and it sinks into the skin easily enough without being greasy, so no complaints there. It might work for minor niggles or as part of a massage routine, but if you’re after proper relief from stubborn aches or post exercise soreness, this might not be the one. Bit pricey too for something that didn’t do much for me.2 out of 5.

If you can get past the odour then it is ok
This product was obtained through the Amazon Vine program. Not sure what to say about this. I obtained it as my partner is always using Tiger Balm and I wondered if this product also worked in the same way. In short, yes but it has an odour which some might take a while to get used to and accept.I would say for the price of the product it is value for money for the amount that is in the small bottle. It rubs into the skin in the same way without leaving any greasy residue so you do not need to worry for your clothes. You really do just need to get past the odour. Not sure if I am recommending this but she was happy so I am happy, especially as my sense of smell is impaired.

really made from emus
Smells good and works OK. Our main concern was that it is actually made from emus... didn't even know that was a thing. But yes, apparently the emus supply their fat to make the oil that you then rub in. We're veggie so that put us right off. We thought the "emu" was just a brand name being from Australia! But if you are ok with that then this doesn't smell half bad and rubs in well. It's very expensive though and because it didn't do anything remarkable, I'm not sure that's good value for money for such a small tub.
