Works perfectly... I have issues with lifting and this has helped with both lifting and the tailgate coming down. Now I can use the back box and disabled don't matter in this case!

Excellent product. I just hate to open the tail gate and let it slam down. This shock works great to eliminate that issues. Definitely recommend this item thank you for the quick delivery. Install was super easy as well.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Great product. No instructions but still very simple. My 8yr old figured it out and had fun installing.

The good: Once installed it works as advertised. Installation took about 10 minutes with the proper tools - that I had to supply The Bad: No instructions included, so I reviewed the photos on the item listing. In one instance the photo instructions were just plain wrong. See below. The kit includes two mounting plates, one that gets bolted to the side of the truck the other to the tailgate. Also included was the hydraulic cylinder, an extra bolt and a Torx wrench. First issue deals with the plate that gets attached to the tailgate. The photo shows you removing the upper bolt and loosening the lower (both 10mm) to install the plate. What they fail to show is that the upper bolt is actually replaced by the bolt included in the kit. That new bolt requires an Allen wrench (not included) to install. As for the plate that attaches to the side of the truck, you must remove an existing Torx bolt to install it. That's where the included "L" shaped Torx wrench is supposed to be used. On my truck, the Torx bolt was so tight that I could not loosen it with the included wrench and had to use a Torx socket drive. Once the plates were installed it was fairly easy to pop on the ball links at the ends of the cylinder and the job was finished. Other than needing so extra tools and a bit of confusion on the instructions, the kit is worth the money
