Smaller Than It Looked On The Product Page
After my concrete patio was poured, there were lots of concrete bits in the yard that I was hoping to get rid of by sifting the soil. Unfortunately, California soil is like clay and clumped when I tried to sift it from the concrete bits so the tray didn’t meet my needs. Although the sifter didn’t work on my soil as hoped, the included garden gloves with the claws depicted on the product page did not come with my sifter. Instead, I received gloves that are unsuitable for digging in the garden. The little garden shovel is helpful.

Life saver
This sifter is a life saver when it comes to gardening. Obviously, due to its small size, it's not sufficient for large scale projects. But, for your everyday gardening, it's perfect. I use it to remove rocks and other non-dirt materials (i.e. mulch pieces) from my flower/garden beds when I am reworking the soil. Works great and it's been durable so far. Real time saver for a process that would take much longer if done by hand. Recommended.

I like the size of the sifter but it’s not worth the price
Let me start by saying I am not completely dissatisfied with this product. The quality of this sifter just is not worth the price of $45. Not even close. I have been looking for one of these knowing I could probably make one on my own but figured what the heck it’s free. Well I’m glad it is. The wire is flimsy and the wood just doesn’t seem like it’s going to hold up to much abuse. Most sifters go through a lot of abuse especially in an area like where I live. If this item was only being sold for $25 or so I’d be all over it.

Simple Soil Sifter, Pricey
This is a simple device that works just as it appears. We use it when adding native soil to our garden beds, to sift out the bigger pebbles. It’s reasonably ruggedly made. The price of $39 is steep for what it is. IF you have some scrap planks and hardware cloth, you could easily make your own for a lot less. Still, it’s useful for what it is.

Works well but wire could be heavier
Works okay as long as you are gentle. It's a decent size, I needed it to sort bagged dirt for my chicken dust bathing area and it worked good for that. They should've used a thicker wire because it seems weak to me.

Such a great tool
This sifter does exactly what you need it to do! It is well built and sturdy. Well worth the money and will last for some years as long as I keep it dry. I believe a sifter is something every gardener should have on hand.

Meh.
I kept hearing people say to get a larger unit. I have those small pan sized sifters. I thought it was brilliant to try and get more done, faster.I mean, that's what we all want, right?Well, I have inadequate upper body strength to use a larger unit. I can barely lift a pan of dirt over and over again. I would need something to agitate the dirt for me in order to use this again. It was a failure of epic proportions. I understand it can be put over a wheelbarrow. It just doesn't work well that way.It now sits on a shelf in the garage for someone else who has better upper-body strength.I do feel like it would work for us if there were better grips. The truth is, we really like sifting the dirt. It's the most relaxation we get in a day. And, we don't really mind doing it a small pan at a time. The yard is large and there's a lot of work to be done, but it just doesn't bother us.Bottom line: Would I order again? No. I wouldn't even DIY this. Would I gift? No.
