Trying Something New, Didn't Bite Me in the A**
I recently decided I wanted a turntable in my bedroom, but I did not want to have to also have the stereo receiver to listen to records, so I decided to go with a turntable with built-in pre-amp and purchased these speakers based on price and reviews. I've heard plenty of bookshelf speakers that sounded hollow and tinny - these speakers are high-quality, and sound better than my home stereo speakers. Their classic wood-finish and sleek face plates would look good on a bookshelf, but I have mine at opposite ends of my turntable atop record racks and it looks equally stylish. There are separate bass and treble controls, and these speakers are loud enough to disturb the neighbors, without sounding like a wall of noise. Though it was not a feature I was looking for or had noticed, the inclusion of a remote was a wonderful surprise, and now I can control the volume from anywhere in my bedroom. I am likely going to order another set of these and do away with one of my receivers. I'd fully expect 99% of the people who purchase these, will not be disappointed. I should also note, these can be connected to a pc... ironically, I only researched Edifier speakers because that is what I use with my PC and I have loved the quality and rich sound. I don't know if all Edifier speakers are made equally well, but these are as close to perfection as I've ever heard in speakers without having to sell an organ to afford them.

they provide a good and clean sound
When I was looking for a pair of powered bookshelf speakers for my record player, I wanted a blend of quality and affordability. I found that in these speakers. They won't satiate an audiophile but, they provide a good and clean sound. Bass and treble knobs on the side give you the ability to adjust them to your liking. They look great as well. I would highly recommend these speakers to anyone looking for new computer speakers or for a record player. This pair was a refurbished pair that came at a cheaper price point than new and I cannot tell a difference. You can tell that the packaging was used previously but, everything was packed neatly and expertly. I will say that this is the best experience that I have had with a refurbished item. Summary: Great blend of quality and affordability. Professionally refurbished (I can hardly tell a difference!) Would make perfect computer speakers or entry-level reference monitors.

Superb quality at a very low price, something that is hard to find
I had a 20w bluetooth portable speaker attached to my desktop and i wanted to buy another one of the same type to have a better stereo effect. I was not using the bluetooth as it was always connected to the desktop. While searching, i came upon this and the reviews were great. I'll say that the reviews are accurate that it is an extremely good set of speakers. The music sounds a lot better and clearer with proper bass when compared to both car's stereo that i have. I have a 7.1 channel speaker system in my living room and it is definitely comparable in sound quality (not the loudness and bass though). However as a desk speaker, i feel that any more bass would really make the sound muffled, so to me the bass is enough. Loudness is more than enough for a decent size room or even a large living room. Comparable or even better than the bose sounddock series II that i have. I bought the refurbished one and could see nothing that would suggest it to be a refurbished one. As good as new. Worth every penny for the $80 that i spent.

Failed in less than 15 minutes, but seller replaced quickly with a good pair
The pair I received were in good condition, with a few very minor burnishes and nicks (I assume due to the refurbishment process), but nothing worth worrying about. The construction quality is good and they're an attractive set of compact speakers. The wood-look laminate is pretty obviously plastic when viewed up close, but it's convincing from a few feet away. As others have mentioned, the included remote control is nice to have, but is very limited in functionality, especially since it doesn't have an power on/off button. If you mount these on an actual bookshelf or another high shelf, accessing the power button on the back of the right speaker can be very awkward to do. I connected them to an Amazon Echo Dot via the supplied 3.5mm-to-RCA cable and they sounded pretty good. Not mindblowing, but definitely worth the price. They lacked a bit in bass but that's to be expected from speakers this small. Unfortunately, the pair I got lasted less than 15 minutes before they stopped producing sound. I troubleshot them thoroughly with different audio sources and even cables and can only conclude that they're defective. I'm outside of my return window but still within the 90-day warranty, so I just contacted the seller via Amazon to file a warranty claim. I'll try to update this review based on the results of that process. --- UPDATE: Nov. 24, 2018 --- I hadn't realized that the Amazon seller "Refurb-V" was actually Edifier. They referred me to a contact form on their website where I reported the problem. Despite the Thanksgiving holiday, they were very quick to respond, were polite and helpful, and promptly shipped me a new pair (before I'd even returned the others) which I received just a day or two later. The new pair looks brand new, and actually seems to sound better than the first pair that failed. I've only listened to them for a few minutes so I can't report on longevity, but I'll update this again if they don't hold up. Thanks to Edifier for standing behind their products. I'd update my one-star rating to rate these 5 stars for value - they sound phenomenal for 80 bucks - but I have to knock off a star for the quality control hiccup. However, I'm still glad I bought them!

Happy with Edifier speakers
I purchased these "refurbished" speakers in late March 2018. They looked brand new direct from the factory. Not refurbished or ever touched by another human before me. They were brand spanking new speakers. They work great. I have a separate monitor with built in speaker and a laptop with speaker. Neither is loud enough to hear videos. Even with the volume at maximum via the electronic volume controls. I first plugged these into the 3.5 hole on the back of the monitor. And they did not produce enough sound. Not loud enough. And there was static that was eliminated by plugging and unplugging everything several times. I then got a new, longer 3.5mm to RCA cable and plugged the speakers directly into the laptop. Now the sound is more than loud enough and I have to turn the volume down. Bass and treble sound great to me. Very happy.

Great price, awesome speakers!
Refurbished. Arrived on time in factory sealed box. Absolutely could not tell from new. Awesome sound. Working at home on my computer, I had been using an Echo Dot talking to a little Bluetooth speaker. I knew I was missing fidelity, but did not know how much until I heard these Edifiers. I had been settling for monaural sound. Echo Dot DOES put out stereo from its aux jack. Wow, what a difference having 2 excellent speakers playing separate stereo channels! I did my research. Edifiers are top rated by Consumer Reports (unbiased) and other sites. I was looking at the Bose Soundlink Mini, but the refurbed Edifiers were half the price. And I can't imagine that the tiny Bose does any better. The edifiers are big, heavy bookshelf speakers, and they kick butt! Highly recommend.

Crushes anything a TV soundbar can do, plus it's fire stick compatible.
Our TV's built-in speakers were atrocious. I shopped all the soundbars from cheap ($100) to expensive ($800). They all sounded meh. The problem is the physics. You just can't get great sound out of something so narrow. So I found these. Now I'm not an audiophile, but I have a pretty good ear. These speakers sound as good or better than the most expensive soundbar systems. The speakers, as it turns out, can be operated by the fire stick remote (the version with the volume control on it) which is awesome. Just go to fire stick setup, add equipment, manual, by brand, edifier, 1280p (or whatever it is). Something like that. Anywho, I think it looks okay the way I mounted them on the side but I think when I get a chance I'll make cabinets the height of the TV, covered in black fabric. Maybe. Fwiw, my TV didn't have audio outs so I had to use an HDMI to RCA adapter, $17 on Amazon... I was worried about the quality but it's pristine. Only thing I don't like is the treble and bass balance knobs on the speakers don't have much dynamic range. Still a tremendous value. Also can use a sub-woofer, but not essential ... You just miss it in movies when you want the room to vibrate. Easy to add though.
