If you need to crimp something, or many somethings, this is your tool. It creates a nice even crimp on terminals. Hammer crimps work but they put the crimp pressure on one spot, this crimps all the way around.

Have used on 8 awful through 4/0 awhile. Cable it is easy and leaves a clean job.

Bought this to put ends on battery cables but thought I'd have to return it when no amount of pressure I could put on the included size 4/0 anvils sufficiently compressed my 4/0 copper battery lugs around the stripped ends of 4/0 copper cable. No matter how much I squeezed the handles of the hydraulic crimping tool, the unserted lug was not compressed enough to hold the wire and keep it from falling out. Worse, the lower anvil bent so much it had to be pried out.Up against a time deadline, I tried the next size smaller anvils, the ones labeled "3/0" on my 4/0 lugs and cables. It WORKED!

Did exactly what I bought it for , clean crimp 0/3 which i then added heat shrink to seal it up looks great .

Broke on the 4th crimp

This tool works as it should, easy to set/release when crimping and the dies change easily and are held in place securely. HOWEVER...each die is sized just too big that, once fully compressed, they don't hold the cable in the lug. It simply pulls out with little resistance. I have to go down 1 size and re-crimp. Knowing this and doing this is easy enough, so long and you don't fully compress the dies and end up with the "wings" on each side of the lugs! It comes in a nice case and has many different dies, even 3 extra sets that don't have the recessed areas to place them in.
