Ordered a size 7 for a 6 1/2 older woman's foot-- her foot has corns and bunions and is therefore wide through the ball of the foot. They fit perfectly and the string threaded through the opening with a toggle in back assures a snug fit. The sole has hard rubber cleats on it, I call them cleats as they are small nipples of dense black rubber. They grip like crazy. No slipping on wet glass, wet poolside, or on pool bottom. I had been going to return them as the lady threw a fit about not needing this or similar pool shoe, would not face the safety issues. BUT we worked through that and now she is Very safe going to and from the pool and doing water exercises in the pool.I ordered a pair of size 8 for my 8 - 8 1/2 wide foot, as a 9 has Always been too large and I know I can get into an 8. I think you will know for yourself whether to go up or down if you are a 1/2 size. Up if you have corns or bunions, and down if foot is normal and you are sure you have never been able to wear that next largest whole size. I am terrifically pleased and now we are both safe. Slick poolsides, slick grass, slick steps, all these are so hazardous as one ages, and I do think it is very sensible to wear a good gripping shoe on these surfaces. FYI-- shopped locally at major sports store and drugstore and found prices from $10 to $25 for lesser quality products, mesh on top poor color selection, no threaded ankle string with toggle tightener, very unreliable gripper soles. Shipping from Shoe 18, from whom I ordered, is only $2.50, and sent all the way across the country from NY state to CA took only a few days. It cost me more than $2.50 to drive around in the heat and traffic and look through local stores. Love these shoes!

So far so good
I bought these to wear on vacation. We'll be going to a water park and I didn't want to just go bare foot, but I didn't want to wear flip flops (I hate the feeling of wet flip flops). These had pretty good reviews and were a decent price so I thought I'd try them out. I received them quickly, tried them on and they fit rather well. I went a size up b/c I'm a half size (just to be safe) also I have wide feet so I usually have to go to the next full size. They're actually a slight bit bigger than I expected. But they have a pull string "thing" (<<technical term there, folks) that make them fit snugly around my ankle so I don't have to worry about them sliding off. We leave for vacation in 2 weeks so I'll update my review once I wear around a bit more. But so far, they're what I was looking for.

Disappointed
I bought these shoes for an aqua fit class I take. The shoes have a terrible smell, almost as if they sat in a moldy closet for years. I am hoping with exposure to the water that the smell will diminish. I received them on Saturday, let them sit in the sun for 2 days, wore them on Monday for the 1.5 hr class. The foam insert in the left shoe came out 3/4 of the way through class. I tried readjusting several times and it was pointless. After class I put them on the patio to dry out and readjust the insert, which has me thinking I need to just rip it out as I don't think my readjusting will hold. Very disappointed and lesson be learned I should have paid extra for a better pair.

Perfect for the pool, exercise, even the shower.
I bought these shoes when I needed them for exercising in the pool. I am very cautious anywhere that the surface is slippery. I liked these shoes so much, that while they were on sale, I bought another pair!. I feel much safer with these shoes on.. They are a little big width wise, but I have small feet. Since they are adjustable at the top closing, they are not loose, at all.. I also feel better not having bare feet in the shower. It is great to have shoes that can be so easily rinsed off if they get wet, or dirty. They wee just what I was looking for.

Great for water parks, boating, yard work, etc!
I purchased three pair for myself and two nieces to wear to a water park. They were perfect for protecting our feet and yet could be worn on water rides as well as around the pool and park. I now wear mine to do yard work as I often hose off and these shoes are perfect for that use. I am addicted to these shoes. They are comfortable. I wish the insole would not have come loose after a day of wearing but that's to be expected. The insole bunches up so I only gave it 4 stars. But I would purchase these again and again!

Did the job
I wear an 8 in shoes but read the reviews and bought a 7 which was great since you don't want a shoe like this to be big - especially when getting wet. I used them on a trip to Costa Rica for the adventure day and they held up well. I am not sure if it is the material or the combo of activities but I did notice a tear in the top mesh part by the end of the day. For $10 they did the job as I usually don't have "water shoes" in my closet. I have not thrown them out. I will wear them in the future until they really fall apart.

The inner soul disattaches
If I get another pair, I will be gluing the inner soul before I use them because the inner soul disattaches and moves from one side to another inside the shoe, or rolls on itself. I wear them for 15 min and the inner soul was bothering my steps. After 3 hours around a dock, (had no other shoes to change into) and both the inner souls disattached. I will see if I can glue them with crazy glue. Other than that, the outer soul is just as described. I was inside a boat for those 3 hours and the grip on deck was awesome.

We live in Phoenix and these work great to keep wet toes off the very hot pavement ...
We live in Phoenix and these work great to keep wet toes off the very hot pavement at the pool and water parks. The only downside is that they had to air out when they came in the mail. They had a VERY strong odor that was so bad I put them on the porch and then had to soak them in vinegar before we could wear them. After soaking and wearing them to the pool a few times they don't smell anymore but they aren't getting a 5 star because the smell was so hard to get out.
