Bought one last summer. Performs as advertised all season. Removed for Winter.
Works as advertised. Much better than the old sump pumps we previously used. Had required no unclogging for weeks in a messy pond. Pumping rise is about 5-6 feet to waterfall. Good flow, no problems so far. Never clogged. I disassembled it in the fall of 2019. Didn't really need to, but I wanted to see what was in there. It was pretty clean.Once it got a small rock in the impeller. I cleared that jam and it worked again. Nice.9/3/2021. The motor froze up, with water having gone through the shaft seal. It's done! I'll need a new pump. This one was trouble free while it was up and running, one jam up, easily cleared. It ran great for 3 seasons, rarely even shut it down. Decent pump for the money, but reading some other reviews, it seems that it's a gamble on how long the pump will last.

Best pump I've ever bought!
This pump was the 3rd one I had tried in my small backyard pond. The first two lasted only about two years and had to be frequently cleaned. The Tetra pump was purchased in March 2018 and is still going strong after 6 years. This is even with me not taking great care of it. It went non-stop this winter. I cleaned out the filter box and filter in August. Today is the first time I have cleaned the filter pad since August and the waterfall still had a great flow of water in spite of the pond being full of leaves. I do not recommend this kind of abuse of the Tetra but promise you cannot go wrong purchasing it. It is EXCELLENT!

Powerful, tough pump
Very powerful and efficient pump. I had to replace my pathetic old pump/filter combo (endless clogging, no power) so decided to upgrade and go with a separate pump and filter system for my fish pond. I hoped to use this pump first to clear out the 8 years of much and sludge accumulated in my pond that made the water a dirty mess, and it worked perfectly. It can pump out pretty large pieces of detritus, and when larger stuff clogs the intake vents (and the flow slows), I found if I turn off the power, there is a brief back flow of water from the filter that pushes the clogs off the vents! Then I can start the pump again. I haven't had this long but am very impressed and happy with how it works.Also.......... The third day after I set the system up, I was away for several hours and came back to find the hose popped off on the filter and almost all the water was gone from the pond (2" left for the fish!). The pump was squealing like mad - it isn't supposed to run without water. I have no idea how long it was running without water, but after filling the pond quickly, I turned it back on, and..... it has been working perfectly for several days! This is a tough pump!!!

Amazing!
We have a 1500 gallon pond that we've been just sort of winging it since we bought the house 4 years ago. The summers are hot in NC and the algea gets out of control. We also have a lot of trees dropping debri in the pond. We finally got in there and scooped a lot of the crap out which made the water very murky. We had a pump and filter combo from AquaSource that was so nasty to clean out. In the summertime we would have to clean it two or three times a week just to get the water to circulate through the pump. On a local Facebook group I asked what kind of pump I could use that would not get clogged up and everyone suggested the Tetra large debris pump with this the external tetra bio filter. The first couple days we were pretty disappointed that we didn't see much clarity. However, after 3 weeks the pond looks better than it's ever looked. We can actually see the pump and the bottom of the pond !! One thing to be mindful of is the attachment sizes of this unit are rather large (1 1/4 and 1 1/2). It's hard to find pond tubing that size locally And we also ended up having to buy a new waterfall box because our old waterfall box only had a 3/4 in max inlet. So if you end up going with this filter, I would definitely recommend buying your hosing and any other accessories you need online. We used the Tetra 2500 bio filter and so far it's been a great investment.

Great pump, connector lacking
This is a great pump for a pond. So far it has done a great job and has refused to clog. Cleaning is very simple and straightforward, just turn it off, spray it down to get the gunk out, and turn it back on. My only minor complaint is that the connector is barbed, which for my specific setup caused a but of an issue since I had to find a coupler that worked (see Flexible Coupling 2" x 1-1/2" by Fernco, works perfectly so far) and my local orange-themed hardware store didn't carry anything that could easily connect this to my waterfall setup. In short, make sure you measure and understand what you need to hook this into your existing water features and you'll be great. The pump itself is great.

Hard working pump!
I've had this pump since spring of 2022. I have gone against every recommended instruction on what not do do. It pumps through snow, freezing Temps, and has lived in the fountain while frozen solid. Leaves and catkins have been so thick at times that I dont know how its functioning. Yet it pushes on. This pump doesn't fail. I need a product that can take my neglect. This is that product.

No fuss
Better than I had hoped. Had to clean the previous pump every 2 to 3 days. This one has been going strong nonstop for 6 months.

Good pump
I really think this pump is pretty good. I have had zero problems with it and it is quiet. Debris does not go thru it and its just a good pump.
