61 Elegant Designs inspired by and with quotes from Jane Austen – printed one side of the page
The media could not be loaded. This is one of a new series of “She Said It Best” coloring books from by Kimma Parish. In this coloring book, the wit and wisdom of Jane Austen is explored. While most of the quotes are from her books, there are also a few which are derived from her personal correspondence. While, in many cases, the words are from a character, you can see the wonderful humor and insights of the author that make the works of Ms. Austen as fresh and fun today as they were when she first wrote them. I am a real fan of her books, having first read them when I was in grammar school. I re-read them often and each time I find something new and delightful. While some of the designs are directly related to the applicable quote, not all are that specific. They are; however, appropriate for the period in which Ms. Austen wrote (such as clothing design, furniture, etc.)The format of the book is smaller at approximately 8.5 x 6.25 inches. It makes it easier to carry if you wish to work with it on-the-go. As the book is sized down, it does make for some small and intricate areas to color. On the whole, I would not categorized the book as intricate; however, it does have a nice amount of detail on most of the designs. This is what I found in coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper61 Designs based on the quotes by Jane Austen.Designs are printed on one side of the pagePaper is white, medium/heavy weight, slightly rough and is perforated.Glue Binding. You can easily remove pages at the perforations if you wish.Book fairly easy to lay flat in the open position by creasing/breaking the spine. The designs do not merge past the perforations.Alcohol based markers bleed through this paper.India ink pens can leave slight shadows of color on the back of the page.Water based markers and gel pens do not bleed through the paper.Coloring pencils worked well. Both oil and wax based pencils worked well for providing good pigment. Though the paper is slightly smooth, I was able to layer the same color for deeper tones, layer multiple colors and to blend easily using a pencil style blending stick. If you use a medium that bleeds through the paper, I suggest either removing the pages from the book before coloring or using a blotter page under your working page. I use card stock but heavy weight paper works well, too. This will keep ink from seeping through and marring the pages below.

A Fun Way to Pass the Time if You are an Austen Fan
I'm having a lot of fun coloring throughout this book with quotes from one of my favorite authors. I didn't give it 5 stars because some of the pictures and quotes don't really fit together... I think perhaps it was an editing error. For example, there is a quote on one page about ships though the picture has flowers, but the next page has a ship but the quote is nothing about that. Other than that, it is an enjoyable coloring book with varying drawings that represent Austen's time. Some of historic homes and grounds, quill pens, old time dresses, etc. You will love it!

Lots of beautiful images, best for fine line coloring with pencils
I love this coloring book. The pages tear out, albeit with some difficulty. I wish the perforations were better. It is a thick book so tearing the pages out before coloring does make things easier. All the pages are one sided, so if you like to color with markers, no worries about bleed through and having to sacrifice one coloring page for another. The colored pages also make for great stationary since they have a blank white side. I already used one for a letter. Plenty of great quotes from Austen's novels and personal letters. My only minor annoyance is the repetitive nature of some of the imagery, but that's bound to happen with so many pages all illustrated by the same artist. Lots of floral imagery, nature, parasols, teacups, and a little bit of victorian fashion and fancy English houses a la Pemberley.

The best coloring book I've purchased!
Okay, I've purchased a good amount of coloring books but this one is my absolute favorite. The first thing I like is that the book itself is a little smaller. It's just under an 8x10 size. It sounds silly but it makes it a lot easier to work in. Also, the pages have the perforated edge so you can tear the pages out cleanly and easily. The pages are thick enough that I can use gelly roll pens and markers and not have any bleed through to the page underneath. That said, each pattern gets its own entire page with nothing on the back. Some designs are more intricate, but others are more simple. I appreciate this because I don't have to get into some super intricate pattern.I can't recommend this book enough. A fantastic purchase; so happy I bought this for myself!

Relaxing and fun
I found this by accident while browsing for Jane Austen themed books, and I love it. The drawings are all cute, and I love the ones that are of the mansion houses. Each picture has a quote from one of Austen’s novels. The pages are thick and sturdy; I’ve been using colored pencils but the pages could probably stand up to markers. Definitely would recommend for anyone who is a fan of coloring & Jane Austen. I’ve only had this book for a couple of days, and I’ve already finished five pages, it’s so relaxing and stress reducing.

Nice colouring book
Drawings are beautiful with many details and the paper is thick enough to use markers. I wish it could have been made with spiral-bound to flip the sheets easily especially.
