Famemaster 4D-Science Plant Cell Anatomy Model

I bought the animal and plant cell models as displays for my college biology course. The plant model is a nice size and sit on top of a stand. As with other raters, the cell wall was difficult to put on. The cell had to be set exactly or these wall pieces could not be put in. I still having difficulties snapping the clear cover on. The cell parts stuck in but must be put in a certain way. I did not have to force the pieces on. For the future, I may buy some more for use in the classroom as the models were nice. I would recommend using this model for older children (smaller pieces) and adults who are interested in biology.

This plant cell is pretty cool. It shows all the basic organelles and contrasts nicely with the animal cell. It is fun to take apart and put back together too. The cell walls work to keep the pieces all together, and I think this is a nicer design than the animal cell. It also looks nice on a shelf and has gotten the attention of my children who want to play with it constantly. The plastic does need a little care. Our cell took a tumble off the shelf not too long after getting it. The cell wall pegs snapped and now our plant cell is without cell walls. So sad, but our fault; it was a long fall. I think i might break down and buy another one.

This is very nice! I think all models like this are a bit overpriced, but it was worth it to have something that could engage my daughter a bit more in her science lessons. It goes together kind of tight, and you have to take all the sides off to get it open. Wanting her to use sensory input to help remember the parts, I would have preferred a hinge so she could take them out and put them in easily. I’m sure that isn’t ideal for a classroom getting though.

My small gifted son has a love of all things science and is very interested in what makes up the structure of animal and plant bodies. So, we decided to try out this plant cell model as a gift to him (he also has the animal cell model as well). It came a week later in a brightly displayed box and immediately grabbed his attention. Within a few minutes he had the pieces out and was assembling the plant cell model. It really helps that not only is the box brightly illustrated but the model is as well. I think this is more than half the battle to let small children see this as a "toy" rather than a boring item for the closet. My son had fun putting in the centrioles, peroxisomes, mitochondria and chloroplasts. The only hard part was the five piece green outer walls of the plant cell. As many other reviewers here at Amazon note, it seems difficult at first to fit in. The trick is to align the cut-out sections correctly and snap/slide one edge in first. Even then though and I had to use a little bit of sandpaper on the pegs and bend things so the walls would snap in. (this is the reason for 4 stars) This plant cell model also has a nice display base and sits upright for easy viewing. I think this model is appropriate for children 5 and up. It would also go great as an add-on gift to a microscope. (or prepared slides) So far, my son takes it down once every week of so and plays with it and reads the accompanying data manual. And if this model spurs him to learn new words like cytoskeleton or golgi apparatus, then an added bonus. For the $19 we paid, this is a 5 star item and excellent little model!

I got this for my 10 year old. He had a great time putting it together. It comes with good instructions and enough info to spark curiosity! A couple of the parts are difficult to keep in place during assembly. With my help, he was able to get it all together, though. The quality of the materials is great!

Purchased this for my niece's school science project and she got an A so I guess it did the trick.

The model was relatively easy to build. The two halves needed some coaxing and alignment to get together. The face plate took the most work and should not be added until the very last step - very tricky. The plant cell looks beautiful when finally assembled. Overall, I was very pleased for the price point. HOWEVER, I noticed some dirt under the face plate - the edge of the face plate had shed some flakes which ended up inside the model, so I took off the face plate and cleaned this off and when I tried to put the face plate back in, it cracked in the bottom right horizontally into the model view. I was not pleased after all the effort and cost for it to break so easily. A model needs to last when manhandled by students and taken apart and put back together with ease. It should even survive falls. This model will not last and is a bit dark to clearly see at a safe distance, so its going to be broken.

First off, I was concerned about the quality of the plastic at this price point. Having received the model I can report that it is quality. The inner pieces are a slightly rubberized plastic that makes for a snug press fit for all the internal parts. The outer plastic is quite rugged. The details, overall presentation, and display stand make this almost a work of art. It comes with simple descriptions of all of the parts of the cell. I highly recommend as a instructional tool. I'm posting this review for both the plant and animal cell as I have both and give them each 5 stars. Not sure how they could improve them, especially at this affordable price point. Well done!
