A step down converter also known as 220 voltage converter is required when you want to use 110 volt USA products in other countries where the voltage ranges from 220 volt - 240 volt. A step down converter reduces the incoming 220 volt electricity found in most parts of the world to 110 Volts USA power.

Protect your investments with this gadget/pocket transformer!!
This is what I am using for my Scentsy warmers while overseas. It comes with the socket plug extension for German plug sockets (that are recessed deep within the wall) and it works in Switzerland with their weird socket as well.I have protected my investment into Scentsy warmers, and I can sleep at night peacefully --Previously, I was told to purchase 220V bulbs and use a socket adaptor. This bulb (because they are banned in the EU and unregulated black market items) melted the innards of my Frankenstein warmer and required we completely rebuild the inside. This nifty little gadget has saved me from so much damage and potential danger. (full disclosure - the ban on bulbs isn't to do with safety but rather energy consumption regulations of the EU.)I have successfully been using this step down mini transformer approx 8 months now.It is about the size of the palm of your hand. It is much like a normal power adapter. It weighs about the same and isn't "heavy" like a typical transformer.TIP: The converter/transformer wattage must be TWICE the capacity of your appliance. This has to do with "spikes" and people who attempt to draw more power than it can withstand. However, this gadget has a fuse inside and will simply stop working rather than kill the appliance plugged into it.Lifesaver!!! Thank you!!

DOES NOT PERFORM TO EXPECTATION
I purchased this unit from Amazon. I am pretty disappointed with this converter. My main use was to light up a Philips Hue LED bulb. The Transformer performs well while the Hue light is switched to "OFF" position from the software. However, the moment the Bulb lights, within 20 minutes the Transformer heats up to a un-touchable level and then makes a humming noise. If this can't power a 9W LED bulb, then the rating on the unit is wrong and misleading.

Good buy
I used it for a month when I went to India, and had no problems. I used it for my epilator. I'd read the reviews about it burning out with prolonged use, so I used it in 5 minute intervals.

Three Stars
Worked okay with my Andis clippers in Ghana, but sometimes the clipper motor was too loud.

Just the thing for battery charging on travel
The converter construction seems to be reasonably good quality, and the main attraction is the low weight plus ability to leave it plugged in. I wanted a transformer-based converter,so that it doesn't have to be unplugged after just a few minutes. Mainly for use with battery chargers that can only take US voltage. Converters of that kind tend to be heavy due to the iron in them, but this one is light because it's designed for relatively low power applications, so less iron. The one I received included a small plug-adapter attachment that lets it work with the recessed outlets used in France and Germany. So I didn't need to buy one of those separately. This was a surprising plus, as the attachment was not shown in the photo or mentioned in the description. So I'm not sure if the item always comes with that adapter included.

Worked once to recharge a phone. Never worked again. Save your money-- buy some other brand
Brought this with me on a trip to New Zealand, along with a 20-year old converter that I expected to not work. So guess what? The old converter worked fine the whole time. This one worked exactly once, when I was re-charging my phone. It never worked again. Total waste of money.

Good luck with purchase
I think a list of the 110 countries would be helpful. If it’s published, it wasn’t too visible. Doesn’t work for US to Philippines.

Using five them successfully to enable US amazon product (phone system) to work on 240 volt system in New Zealand. So far they are operating perfectly after three months use.4 stars because they are bulkier than ideal.
