Sleeping Dolls: Detective Morgan Brookes, Book 6

Absolutely an edge of your seat, nail-biting thriller!
This storyline kept e guessing all the way through. For the record, I it was the boss too. I love Morgan and Ben! I’m a lady with copper colored hair and alabaster skin with a speckling of freckles. In my mind, I’m a detective, forensics expert, and a private investigator who solves cases just like Morgan.

Morgan innocently gets the wrong end, AGAIN
A digital ARC of this book was provided to me by NetGalley and Bookouture. The opinions are my own and freely given.Oh Morgan! She just can't stay out of trouble, no matter how hard she tries. There are 2 dead bodies. 1 has been dead a few days and is already starting decomp when it's discovered. The other is a woman that the police go to check on, only to find her dying. This story flips from present day to 1989, telling the story of a little boy growing up in a mansion with his grandmother.I learned about a Victorian tradition of covering mirrors, stopping clocks and flipping over photos of the deceased. Yes, that's real and I researched the meaning behind that, before some of it was explained.Morgan really didn't go into the scene looking for trouble. She innocently went to find someone when she was attacked. There was a scene where I actually cringed, not what I was expecting to happen. As always, Morgan Brookes is stellar, and I highly recommend this series.

Wow! Great story. Unputdownable! 5 Stars
Wow! What a great story. I was scrolling for future reads, when I accidently clicked on this book. How lucky was that! I have never read any of Helen's books, nor had I heard of her before. I gave this book a five star rating because it was such a great story with wonderful believable characters. It could be made into a movie. I have written down a list of all her books available on kindle and will be reading them all!!!

Fast-Paced Crime Thriller!
SLEEPING DOLLS is the Sixth book in a police procedural series featuring Detective Morgan Brookes by Helen Phifer. I have read all of the books in this series and this book is a definite winner! Although this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the books in order to get a full history. The books in the Detective Morgan Brookes Series:BOOK 1-ONE LEFT ALIVEBOOK 2-THE KILLER’S GIRLBOOK 3-THE HIDING PLACEBOOK 4-FIRST GIRL TO DIEBOOK 5-FIND THE GIRLBOOK 6-SLEEPING DOLLSThis is my review of Sleeping Dolls. This is DC Morgan Brookes first day back at work in the CID office, in Rydal Falls, known as CAST, Crime and Safeguarding Team, after a run-in with The Travelling Man. She had been abducted and injured by a serial killer named The Travelling Man, who now was in jail. The cast of the small control team includes:Sergeant Ben MatthewsDetective Morgan BrookesDC Amy SmithDC Des BlackDetective Morgan Brookes and her boss, Sergeant Ben Matthews are a couple, and Morgan has finally moved in with him.Morgan attends the scene, after a call had come in from a tenant in a housing-association building, about a bad smell coming from next door, and the occupant, a woman, Shirley Kelly hadn’t been seen for some time. When Morgan entered the flat, she found the woman dead, physically unharmed except for one missing lock of hair. Every clock in the house had been stopped at 6 o’clock and every mirror had been covered. It was later determined that her neck had been broken. Very suspicious! But then another woman is killed, and her home arranged in the same way, but she had been stabbed, using a knife from Shirley’s own kitchen. What is the connection between these two victims? Morgan must figure out this link before it is too late and there are more targets. This is a fast-paced crime thriller with intriguing characters with a plot filled with twists and turns. Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and Net Galley for my digital copy.

Meh
Start with the title: sleeping dolls have nothing to do with the story. The plot is ok but often unbelievable. Police work is based on premonitions and guesses. The writing is meh, formulaic, though I'm sure the author tried hard. Maybe she needs to do something else for a while. The editing is atrocious. Does the same person edit most of these murder mysteries? So many have the same errors of grammar and syntax. If you want to read without thinking, this is the book for you. It's not bad, not great, a good solid meh.

this was a real page turner.
I’ve started this series not realizing how deep I get into the stories. Always sad when the book ends as I have to immediately go to the next. Twists and turns in the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a good mystery which is easy to read.

twist
This one had my brain going one way and my heart was saying another, it can’t be him. Is it? No it can’t be. This one kept me guessing to the last few pages. Another great read and I just cannot get enough of Morgan’s shenanigans. She is always caught in the middle of a crappy situation but she always comes out on top!

Imagination is everything!
Great read, never disappointed just love this series. Keep them coming Helen. If I had one wish it's that the story goes all the way to the end of the book !
