it's just a great invention!
This keeps all cats, dogs, raccoons and then some off of the garden, off of the furniture, it's just a great invention! Its the best solution for repelling animals, including dogs.Horses and cattle are not effected by it and may use it to scratch themselves if its on a wall, so you might consider putting it in the stall for that terrible back itch a horse might get ;)secure it at the top of your fence and nothing, not even squirrels will walk to fence again!its harmless to any small animal who might step on it, but it makes them feel extremely uncomfortable, probably because it reaches up in-between their toes.Chickens, Doves, and the like; cant stand on it, so its a great repellant for them as well.I can't say enough about this product, its a life saver!Saves plants and animals.

Works wonderfully and is hardly noticeable!
My newest addition is a fearless kitten that kept getting out of our backyard. I have purchased a prior roll of Scat Cat Mat and wrapped it around the trunks of our but she found a way over the back gate. The second roll was cut and used on the diagonal beam of the fence and top of the gate. The Cat Scat Mat Is easy to cut to size and secure on the desired surface. I can now rest easy my fearless kitten is now safe in our backyard.

Consider whether you want it shipped FLAT, not in a ROLL (indoor/outdoor matters)...but GOOD PRODUCT
I almost feel bad for giving this fewer than five stars for a reason that has little to do with quality, but I want to point out for other buyers a trade-off they might not realize they're making.(BTW: for keeping cats off stuff, I used to cut up those desk-chair floor-protectors for carpet that had big spiky nubs on the underside: Those worked great, but were hard to cut (lots of obnoxious plastic dust), & the nubs weren't as pronounced, & you had to keep a big, awkward sheet that you sawed chunks out of: I didn't realize "Scat Mat" was a whole thing now till I found it while actually **searching for** the old deskchair-mats. Thank god this is a thing now! SO much easier!)The trade-off you might want to consider is this: a lot of the more inexpensive Scat Mats come in rolls, which, while being more flexible if you need longer lengths, means you have to pretty aggressively FLATTEN IT if you want it to lie FLAT (and this is almost always the case, no?)...ESPECIALLY the last little bit, which is tightly curled, in a very tight radius at the center of the roll.I reverse-rolled small sections (rolled them "inside out" from the way they'd been shipped) & kept them tacked that way overnight, & it worked okay to get some outer-layer-segments relatively flat relatively quickly, but the innermost layers are taking some wrangling to turn into nice flat rectilinear segments...and none of my uses exceed 2-3 ft in length. If I had it to do again, I might buy mats that came in FLAT sections (for shorter-length uses, e.g. "don't lie on my guitar amp / pedalboard /etc")...but then again, this was the least expensive and (eventually, when flattened) function just fine.Just something to be aware of: do you wanna mess with flattening? (which, if it's outdoor use, you can tack it down into the grass w/provided hooks) Or do you, for short-run indoor uses, want to pay a little extra to not have to mess with it the way you used to have to deal with wallpaper's resistance to lying flat after coming off the roll, but without any glue to "insist" on flatness.Hope this helps you envision your application in advance better than I was able to before dealing with the tighter--curled sections...which, again, work admirably once flat.

Very expensive, does not do the job as stated, please don't purchase
Very disappointed with this product... I have a few feral cats that frequent my yard, especially near a bird feeder we have set up on the trees. We purchased this product to prevent the cat from going near the feeder and intimidating/praying on the birds but what we noticed is that most cats will just walk right over the mat, as though it doesn't exist. The ones that do respond, quickly learn to avoid it by simply jumping over it. Which leads to my next point: for $20 you're getting an ***extremely*** small mat (you might think that the size would be enough for your purposes based on the pictures but it's not). To conclude, not only does this product not have an affect on most cats, but of the ones that are affected there simply isn't enough "mat" given to stop them from jumping over and continue doing what they want. Buying more mats in bulk is not an option here as the seller priced what is essentially plastic spikes at a staggering $20... So please save your money and look for better alternatives.

Great for Cats, Not for Racoons
Been fighting Racoons and feral cats for 3.5 years now in this new house. Spent about $600 between electronic devices sprays, pest repellant granules, home made essential oil sprays, ammonia spray, Cayenne pepper, etc. You name it, I've tried it. Everything works for a little while and either they get used to it and start coming back or it rains and washes it away (Florida rains)or I am out of town for work. I come home to raccoon sh__ in my pool, muddy tracks all over the deck or a feral cat laying sunning himself at the end of the pool. They don't even move if you throw a rock at them or yell. This mat works well for cats under my fence or deck. (chicken wire even with the proper tool still hurts my hand after cutting a few strips). The problem is wherever you don't have this mat they will just find a new place. I have a huge yard and this can get pretty pricey. For racoons they just grab it and move it like everything else I've tried (cinder blocks, 2x4's, cinder blocks holding 2x4's, etc.) I think a big dog will solve a lot of my problems but I travel for work. I think if they could make a heavier version of this will stronger tie downs the Racoons would not be able to lift it. It's a play toy for them right now.
