Koi: A Modern Folk Tale

Gorgeous book and lovely tale!

This was not an appetizing book. Some wonderful photos at the beginning and then everything fell apart. Went from photographs to artwork and poetry. Wasn't thrilled by how this book was assembled.

Illustrations were really bad. I was looking for a Koi book with either photo or artist illustrations but there were very few photo in comparison to the artist illustrations .

The first time I took this book into my hands I was nearly moved to tears. Just thumbing through it is a spiritual experience, Getting deeper into it is downright transcendental! The photographs are stunning. The haiku story is the perfect adjunct. The Harnick family--obviously a loving one--have created a modern artistic masterpiece. I am ordering one for each of my five grandchildren, as well as for friends.

Does not reflect the variety of koi and the photographs are mediocre.

This book is almost empty. Few pictures of Koi fish, some strange looking illustrations and only 4 short lines of text on each page. I guess if that is what you are looking for you will enjoy it. But not me. I was shocked and really disappointed.

I was given this book as a gift. I have always been huge fan of the stunning Koi and have painted a series of them over the years. The cover is very beautiful, however the photographs inside were a big disappointment. I understand this is a modern fable and the unique photography goes with the story told in Haiku style. However, I would have liked to have seen more photos of Koi in all its natural beauty and in its natural setting sprinkled throughout the book. As a side note: The giver and I were equally disappointed...
