Like the 3M Optime 101 for a fraction of the cost
For my original purchase, I bought the 3M brand hearing protection. Based on feedback and research, they are the #1 supplier of hearing protection and those who use them on a daily basis for office work (which is what I am looking for) love them. I also feel head over heals with mine. It was comfortable to wear - even over my earrings - and muted the music playing that I did not want to hear. I felt empowered - like I can read, think, and study anytime and any place.Instead of using those in the office, however, I decided to use them for sleeping. I am a night owl, and I don't like being awoken early for no good reason. So, these wonderful 3M Optime 101 were dedicated to this task. And, although I was tempted to buy another 3M earmuff, I decided to explore cheaper options. For me, the size of the ear cups was important as I wanted to keep my earrings in and also to be able to add earplug or earphones. (Earphones playing a white noise app are the best way to keep sounds like people talking from bothering you. Just tune the noise to make the sound (or is it the sound to match the noise) in pitch and varation. My favorite apps are White Noise Ambience and Sleep Sounds by Sleep Pillow. I have not yet tried this with the earphones - but I've read that these have room for this.) My questions were - Do I need something more than 27dB? Do I like brands other than 3M? The Optime line is known to be good for people with large heads and large ears... would others work. (I don't have a big head but for a female like me, this could mean wearing them over curlers to sleep in and with earrings on.) How big do they look on?And, I am including here the head-to-head comparison that I wish I had had. Note that the 3M has been worn twice for several hours. The Fvona is brand new. I've tried to flex the band to loosen it up but it has never been worn.Ear cups (inner) - The 3M is on top. The Fvona is on the bottom. Both look to be the same size. So, if the Optime 101 is sized to accomodate bigger ears, then this one is too. The 3M feels a little more cushioned and softer, but the firmer feel of the Fvona is nice too. This is a toss up.Ear cup (outside) - The cups for the 27db 3M (black) and the 34 dB Fvona (purple) look to be about the same. The Fvona might be slightly thicker in the cushioned area. But, the size and shape of the shells are remarkably similar. Looks like they were just branded differently.Ear muff head shape - The Fvona (purple) is brand new and the 3M (black) has been worn twice. So, this comparison may not be entirely equal. However, the Fvona seems to tend to be tilted whereas the 3M looks to form a parallel gap. On the head, both are comfortable for me. I have an oval shaped head. If you have a wide, square face, you may prefer the 3M. If you have a small or heart shaped face, you may prefer the Fvona. But, I'm not sure it makes a big difference as both are comfortable for me. Note - I do feel a tighter seal with the Fvona and more pressure but it is brand new and has never been worn - except to try it on. Both were equally easy to turn in my earring and put in place.Headbands - The headbands are nearly identifical in look and in function.Adjustment for head size - The believe that the headpones are pushed all the way in in the forth photo and pulled all the way out in the last one. Note that for the Fvona, I could have pressed them together the same as in the last photo. They can tilt or be flattened together. Both adjust at the wire close to the ear cup. This is where I do see a big difference between the two. The height of the 3M (black) can stretch longer than the Fvona (purple). Also the 3M was easier to adjust (less effort). So, if you have a particularly large hat size, then you may be happier with the 3M. For me, this doesn't matter.Noise attenuation - Not sure why I put this last but if you got this far, here are my thoughts on this. I put them on in an environment that had two different types of music playing in two different rooms. And, I was standing in the doorway. So, I could hear both. They both muted the sound quite a bit. I could still hear it but I had to concentrate harder to make it out. The Fvona did mute the sound slightly more - making it more nebulous and less defined than the 3M. It is rated slightly higher (34 db vs 27 db). The difference was subtle for me in this particular environment. For me, this difference would not have been worth paying extra for, so I am quite pleased that this actually costs much less.In summary the Favona is virtually the same as the Optime for people with average sized heads. If you have a particularly big head, then the 3M Optime may be a better choice. Otherwise, the Fvona is a good way to have 3M calibre noise attention and comfort for a fraction of the price.

Great Piece of Equipment
I bought these to block out noise during my downtime when I need a break from everything such as neighbors yapping outside my house when I need an afternoon nap and other distractions that can cause frustration at times. They are very impressive when it comes to blocking out sound, and I say that without once having used the included earplugs with them. By themselves these are a powerful method of blocking things out and I wish I had bought something like this ten years ago. They don't block everything 100% by themselves but are by far the most effective equipment I have used so far to eliminate distractions and protect my hearing when using my tractor or firing rounds at the range. I have a humongous head and these are a pretty good fit although they can get uncomfortable after a bit. Nothing a little adjustment doesn't fix. For the price I would say they are a great value and I would recommend them.
