Q: Does it have an internal nvme slot for a larger boot ssd?

Yes, it has an NVME drive slot inside. I added a 1TB Samsung 980 EVO, and after verifying it was visible in the BIOS (hit F2 during post to enter the BIOS), it recognized it in Windows. You'll want to enter Disk Manager in Windows to configure it. You have to remove the screws on the cover, to add the drive, and it's pretty easy to miss the slot. The more annoying thing is, it doesn't look like there's any spot to upgrade the RAM however. Upgrading the NVME drive is a nice improvement, as the 64GB that comes with it is actually eMMC storage, which is a LOT slower the PCI NVME.

Q: can you play games from steam on it?

It is a very very slow computer with not much memory on it. I think you'd be better off with a different computer. Mine was slow right out of the box and basically useless to me
