Allen Company Bear Creek Micro Fly Fishing Chest Pack

Spend your money on the trip not a pricey chest pack. This thing is durable, functional, and looks great. I’m a big guy and the straps fit me perfectly, and could size down quite a bit.

Game changer having all your flies and everything right there on your chest super easy accessibility, the Velcro could use a little better quality and so could the foam fly holder, the foam is just really soft and the flies kind of fall out quite often but overall super

I like this pack but too small to hold all my stuff. I need a slightly bigger one so I can fit my phone. I am still giving it a 5 star because the fault is mine, not the product. Product has held up very well. No issues.

The general design and function is good. Before I state where improvements were made, my biggest question when buying was not knowing how large of a fly box would the main compartment holds. To let buyers know, my medium fly box is 7 3/4" by 4 1/2" and 1 3/4" deep. This fly box fits snugly in the main compartment and still allows for Mucilin floatent and small bag of weights. The smaller compartment easily hold a small box of indicators and maybe a small bug spray. The tippet reels are hung on the outside of the small compartment. The enhancements that I needed to make deal with the addition of basic tools that I carry and fixing the straps. Each of the plastic holding loops were too thick to attach my common tools from a back net with magnet release, a case with my fly fishing sunglasses and a Zinger retracting accessory clip on. I needed three carabiners one for each plastic loops. The adjustment straps are sized fine but the design to keep the straps from hanging in your way all the time was a cheap elastic loop holder that just is too weak to hold straps in place. I happened to have four sets of 1" X 3" velcro so I attached to the four straps and that holds the loose straps from dangling around getting in my way and allows for adjustments as needed. It's the little but important things that can't get this a 5 star.

There's not much I can add to what has already been said, but I will say I'm not a fly fisherman (yet). I primarily bank/kayak fish smallies on my local rivers here in Tennessee, and this pack is everything I hoped for and more. I hate to say how much you can cram into it, since that's not the point, but I have several packs of soft plastic swimbaits (like Keitec easy shiners, Yum Christie Craws and Z-Man TRD stick baits) and other lures, jig heads, hooks, hemostat, bullet weights, etc. and I still have room to spare. I also can fit in a 2003 Flambeau Tuff Tainer small tackle box in the main compartment without much else in it, which is great for when I'm using hard baits. Highly recommend that product--Walmart has them very cheap. I also like that the "dry" pouch in it holds my iPhone 7 perfectly. Not sure how water-resistant it is (hope I never find out), but it looks like a quick stumble into the water wouldn't be the end of my phone. I also was torn between getting this and the Allen fishing sling, but got this because of the price and reviews and am not sorry. When bank fishing, I wear this across my body as a sling, and when kayak fishing or wading, I use it as a chest pack by adjusting the handy buckle straps. Either way, it's perfect for my purposes and very comfortable. Now, for all the reviewers who are basing their feedback on how well it fits their handgun, I just have to ask...are you fishing in The Bronx? Going on tactical ops where there’s a chance you might fish? This is definitely designed for lighter gear. Leave the Ruger, take the Rapala.

Nicely made but very, very small. I think the website description of the size of this chest pack is inaccurate and confusing. May be OK for a minimalist fly fisherman, but no good for me for ultralight shore fishing with a variety of lures and baits. Had to return it. A great product that is well made & just the right size for carrying minimal tackle, will hold a wychwood clear vue large double sided fly box and essentials for a few hours on the river bank. Very reasonable price too
