I just installed the Yakima Jetstream crossbars on my 2018 Subaru Outback. I am using these with the Yakima Skyline and the Yakima Landing Pad 15. These will primarily be used with Yakima bike carriers. I previously used Yakima round bars with a fairing to cut wind noise. I cannot take the fairing through my local car wash and got tired of removing them. After reading reviews I bought the Jetstreams. The initial installation is straightforward as with all Yakima products I have used and appear to be solid and well-made. I practiced removing the bars once installed and found the Skyline towers easy to use just as my old control towers were. Then came the test drive to answer the noise question. I drove around town and on the interstate up to 75 MPH. I was pleasantly surprised there was no more wind noise than with my factory crossbars. I have used Thule square bars and Yakima round bars for years and was never able to use them without a fairing. Perhaps wind noise may vary for different vehicles and I can only speak for the Subaru Outback. I am finally free of the fairing and recommend this quiet and sturdy roof system.

Aerodynamic and sturdy! Works well with kayak holders and other mounts. Sturdiness: Very strong and trustworthy on long trips

Attached them to our Subaru with Yakima brackets. Attached a roof basket and storage pod to them for a long road trip. Love the attention to detail on the cross bars with the rubber ton stip for attachments and the rubber bottom strip to help with sealing the units from rain and keeping them a bit more quiet when driving. Would highly recommend these. Good value for the cost.

I was hoping for AWSOME when I upgraded to these Aero bars. What I found did not justify the premium price for me. I had the round bar set up with a couple of Viper Fork Lifts mounted to my 2012 Subaru Outback using Launch pads and Control Towers and a wind fairing. I loved that set up - it was easy to install, changeover to ski rack, and just looked good, especially with the wind fairing attached. I installed the Jetstream bars using the new Yakima skyline. While installation was easy, I had the following issues: 1. the bars end up sitting a little bit higher than the round bars(maybe 1/4-3/8"). Not a huge deal, but I am not that tall(5'8"), so the added height was noticeable. 2. the new Forklift bike rack does not integrate well to the streamline bars. They are a "jack-of-all-trades" rack - meaning they fit every type of bar - and none extremely well or clean. Here is an expensive Aero bar that I bought, with a channel along the top for cleanly attaching accessories, and the fork lift still has to wrap around the bar in the front to attach. You have to put it in the 2nd or 3rd position which leaves the top 2 positions exposed and just does not look clean or very aerodynamic. 3. The new windshields are shaped strangely - they are longer on the ends and narrower in the middle. The result is that the entire bottom does not touch the car rook. When driving, the middle vibrates, and without support from touching the roof, causes the whole thing to vibrate and make noise. Yakima says that it is not needed for aerodynamics, but I installed for aesthetics, and it was just a waste. 4. The bars are pretty quiet. BUT, NOT ANY MORE QUIET THAN THE ROUND BARS WTH A WIND FAIRING INSTALLED. For a set of round bars and wind fairing, you are still about $20 less than the Jetstream bars alone. I don't believe aerodynamically/noise wise that the premium price is warranted. 5. These bars a cool - no doubt. And if Yakima actually had any accessories that attached specifically to the T-slot channel on top, it might have swayed me. I believe that is where having these bars will make a difference. But right now all it seems like is Yakima got these bars out to the public, and did not have Jetstream specific accessories ready for it. Maybe in a few years I will give them another try, but right now it doesn't add up for me.
