Easiest 20min repair no door panel removal- read this
I’ve read a few reviews about people removing the door panel to access the wiring harness for this repair. There is an easier way. When you take what’s left of your broken pillar piece out you’ll see there’s no slack in regards to the wiring. Which makes you think oh crap I gotta do the door panel. No. Just look at the factory keypad and unscrew the four screws. If your lucky yours came from the factory with Phillips head screws, mine needed a T6 star screw. Any T6 bit would work but luckily I had a small kobalt screwdriver with it already. After you unscrew them you’ll need a very very very small flathead to pry the keypad off the old trim. Work your way around evenly nice and steady until you can pry it off with your fingers. Now just repeat the process with your new pillar. Just be very gentle so you don’t damage the new pillar. You can either keep or trash new keypad since you don’t need it. Bolt the new pillar to the factory keypad. Now use some gorilla double sided tape because the double sided tape that comes with this pillar sucks and will fail. The gorilla tape sticks great and won’t fail you. Now your doneBtw, I would take a second to disconnect the battery before you do all this. Only so that you don’t blow a fuse. These keypads are delicate. If it gets pulled on and that wiring harness pulls the wrong way it’ll blow a fuse. This happed to me when my pillar first broke off while driving. No big deal right, just a fuse?? No this fuse isn’t under the hood, it’s in the fuse box that’s under the dash and you gotta be bent over backwards using a needle nose plier that is bent 90 degrees just to pull the fuse. Just save yourself the trouble and disconnect the battery. Also, if your windshield pillars are broken also, Safelite will replace them(with the brackets) for free. You just need a broken windshield also 😉… usually no cost with your insurance company.

2015 ford explorer electrical door panel
This product was easy to install, fit right into the pre cut slot in the door, wasn't too bad in price either. The quality itself isn't too great, it is a bit flimsy and also quit working a day after it was installed.

Exact Replacement
It was quite a bit of a project that took me probably two hours. Definitely not a project for those who haven't done some mechanic work with body panels before. On a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of difficulty, I'd say this is a 7. It isn't as simple as unscrewing the old one and plugging the new one in. Taking the original one off was a bit of a hassle because these are held on by double-sided tape, and so I more or less had to break the old one off, carefully. Be prepared to thoroughly clean the surface so the tape sticks well. I used lacquer thinner. Getting inside the door to unplug the old one and plug in the new one, was also a hassle. But hey, it works perfectly and, as far as I could tell, is exactly the same part as the original one, and installed the same way with double sided tape and all. Very happy with the result.

Go OEM don't buy, Looks Great but only lasted a few weeks
It took me a while to getting around and installing this part on my Explorer. But the part did install fine on the car, did have to add some additional sticky pads to the back to keep it secured on the door, but unfortunately that after a few weeks it just stopped working all together.I've waited a few days and see that the keypad no longer works at all, so I am buying the OEM to get something that actually works. For the hassle and effort to replace this, I definitely don't recommend this product.
