A fresh practical approach
This is another great self-help book by Andrea Hanson (see the deservedly laudatory reviews, by me and others, of her first book, "Live Your Life Not Your Diagnosis," originally released on Kindle in 2015, in paperback 2016, with a new edition coming soon). This book explores a challenge so many people have dealt with: weight loss. Obesity has become a really significant public health issue in the US, and millions of people have struggled with the personal challenge of weight management. Tragically, the problem has long been tangled up with negative and often sexist body-image messages sent out by popular culture, with its obsessive and often cruel focus on unobtainable ideals of beauty and body (especially inflicted on women, though as I know from my own experience, a real problem in the gay male community also). While Hanson's books focus on challenges faced by people like her with MS, this book has a lot of really valuable guidance to offer anyone dealing with the challenges of healthy weight management. How to approach those challenges while avoiding or minimizing all the unhealthy cultural and emotional baggage? Hanson provides a fresh, practical, and optimistic approach.

Powerful information for anyone, with or without an MS diagnosis, who has ever been to a doctor or gone on a diet!
Buy this book whether you have MS or not and even if you don’t know anyone with MS. I co-founded a company that got a medical device through FDA clearance aimed at helping people with chronic disease so I know the real challenges that face people with a serious diagnosis. I have also studied all aspects of nutrition for 19 years because I have family members struggling with different serious health challenges. And yet Andrea presents brilliantly simple information I have never read anywhere else. It’s information I will use for myself because who doesn’t want actionable information on having a healthy relationship with food and with our bodies? And it’s information I will offer daily to my clients who need the best support they can get. Andrea is loving and wise and experienced in her approach – I highly recommend that you don’t wait to get your own copy of “Stop Carrying the Weight of your MS” regardless of whether or not you have MS!”

A quick read. A lasting impact.
Straightforward and succinct, this powerful read coaches you through eating for your body, starting and staying with an exercise routine, and creatively analyzing the reasons you may waver. What stands out is the author’s emphasis on how thoughts and motivation levels can get in the way -- and what you can do about it. A quick read but definitely worth it. It's an investment in your health.

Kind of disappointed
This book isn't what I expected.😒 Not very interesting so I'm not sure I'll keep reading it.

I can't recommend this book enough!!!
Although I don't have MS, I have struggled with my weight, my body, fitness, and food for much of my life. The author's approach to a healthy body feels like relief to me. This book helped me tap into (AGAIN) the incredible wisdom my body has, and reminded me that I have everything I need, right inside myself. In way, it's more of a challenge to trust myself, but in the end, it's so much more enjoyable, not to mention empowering. If you want a book with meal plans and exercise regimens...a book that tells you what to do, this isn't it. But if you want to learn how to become your body's BFF (and I do mean best friend FOREVER), I can't recommend this book enough.

They and the medications that keep me functional have caused me to gain a ton of weight that I feel like I have to explain and apologize for
While I don't have MS, I do have several auto-immune disorders. They and the medications that keep me functional have caused me to gain a ton of weight that I feel like I have to explain and apologize for. Andrea's book helped me feel less isolated in my health journey. Stop Carrying the Weight is not a diet plan, but a tool for looking at your thinking patterns which in turn help you make positive changes in your lifestyle.

Excellent book for anyone wanting to get healthy!
I read the book and it's so positive. It gives you several examples using people stories on how they were successful and unsuccessful. The positives about not being unsuccessful with weight loss is that you can make the appropriate adjustments so it works for you and your situation. The biggest thing I learned, it's about attitude toward self and the choices you make. This is definitely a keeper and it can work for anyone. Thank you Andrea for another great book.
