Good radio needs Well Tuned Antenna!
Good radio overall for short/medium QSOs. Not for long wind-ers. Can be programmed from MIC once you get the sequences down. Needs a VERY WELL tuned antenna for each band or gets hot quick. I removed bottom cover and drilled three 13/16” holes over the rear final heat sink to vent and runs cooler for sure. YMMV. I can’t stress enough this radio needs a WELL TUNED antenna or you will probably toast it. In some circumstances MIC seems to initiate a whining pulse sound during receive, if you remove MIC it stops. Proximity matters. OK, have fun! Works good!

Poor customer service
Would not connect to computer to program. Customer service only tried to help through emails. After trying this for a few days, this took too long to try and fix. It could have been resolved quicker through a phone call with a real person. By the time they were willing to really help, the radio was already returned. Otherwise it would have been a good radio.

Throwaway mobile rig
I have a hybrid that doesn't have a 12v lead acid battery... So the 12v is derived from the main lithium battery via DC to DC converters. This basically means most of the Japanese mainstream mobile FM rigs won't work since I need to basically plug into the cigarette lighter, and they draw too much current for that. This rig is designed for that and is really quite small. The issues with these rigs are that some are known to need additional filtering on 2m and 1.25m, I haven't verified that yet but I can build filters and check for harmonics with the limited test equipment that I have, so that is better than running HTs in the car honestly even if I need to clean it up a little. So even if I have to polish it up, it's a lot better than having an HT in the car. The other issue is that the programming cable has a pl2303ta in it, which is a clone counterfeit chip. You have to look on the internet for an old driver but once you do so it will program just fine with Chirp Next even on Windows 11. It's an annoyance however. If it is stolen, melts, or only makes it a year it's still workable for the price. The audio through it on both TX and RX is good enough that they won't know what you are running unless they ask, and you can then lie about it to be honest. It's one of the few cheap 222 MHz rigs too if you want to get on that band but not invest in it. I will update once I hook a spectrum analyzer to it if all the harmonics issues are real or not. It works like a Baofeng HT but lacks some of the annoying quirks. It's OK. It really is. The form factor is kind of cute.

Great radio for the money.
Very easy to program and great sound quality. I bought it to use as a base at home on a budget, and it performs wonderfully.Just make sure you have the correct antenna and you should have excellent service from it. I loved it so much I got a second to make my go bag.

Spend the extra money for a different radio
I set this radio up for a mobile setup in my truck and got to use it for a total of 2 days before the radio decided it wasn’t going to turn on again. Not sure if it was a manufacturing issue since these things are so cheap but I’d expect them to work longer than 2 days. Straight to the trash, onto the next radio
