Q: Would my dog be able to chew this bowl up?

Yes. It’s hard plastic. If your dog is not out of the chewing phase I’m sure they could manage to chew this if left unsupervised for prolonged time. Sadly my pup chewed through everything that wasn’t metal even with so many toys and bones. I have this bowl inside and it’s supervised.

Q: Could this help keep bugs out of the water outside?

I doubt it. The holes on top are still open enough to allow bugs or other things in. I use this bowl inside.

Q: How do you use grips? Do you just peel off and stick the sticky side to the bowl? Or does the sticky side go on the floor?

We did't use ours, but I would assume you stick them to the bowl. Otherwise you would have to put the bowl in the exact same spot all the time. The grips will keep it from sliding. We have our bowl sitting on a tile floor and have had no problem with it sliding without using the grips.
