How to Become a Ventriloquist (Try Your Hand at Ventriloquism)

If you're looking to learn ventriloquism, this may not be the best book on how to do so. Given the year it was originally released, I'm sure this was the best information available. Today, though, there are much more detailed instructions you can find elsewhere.With that said, if you're interested in a historic window to the past, this is a fantastic read. It's full of really neat nostalgia.

A bit old-fashioned but this book is still informative with satisfactory black-and-white illustrations. Edgar Bergen’s very brief history of ventriloquism is sufficient. Carla Rhodes, Cecilia Zillah Ustav, Mallory Lewis, Terry Fator, Jeff Dunham and others have continued the puppetry stagecraft of ventriloquism into the twenty-first century.

I have someone in the family that’s in ventriloquist and this book is very informative on how to learn this talent. Will be looking into other books to order to go with this one.

Gift for my granddaughter she wants to learn how to be a ventriloquist

A very good book for someone getting in to the hobby. A quick and easy read. And it is a classic. circa 1940s

From the get go, when you open the first page you can tell this book was written long ago. It is full of good info on the art of Ventriloquism, and handpuppets or stage performance. I think given the age it was written, you must take the jems of knowlege and try and apply them to today as best you can. I did like the brief history on the art, also Edgar Bergin, was the top of his day. His daughter should be proud of him. I think if you can look past the time this was written, you will enjoy the read.

This is a great resource for budding wanna be ventriloquists. I found it very easy to follow and very enjoyable. It arrived in great condition and promptly on time. A great little buy.

The book I purchased was not only exactly what I wanted, but the description was "spot on" ! The service was exemplary, and, being disabled, being able to purchase exactly what I wanted from the comfort of my own home was a bonus. Full marks all round ! :-)
