does book require batteries and if so what size

It comes with batteries ready to use. I bought for my 3 year old Great Granddaughter 9/21/19 and she can now identify ten dinos by name and sight by 11/2/19. The audio identifying the dinos is clear and easily understood. It has a battery compartment to change tiny battery when needed. The dinos do stand all but one. The book cover is prone to bending from ??. But all in all great. I would definitely buy this again for mine or someone else.
