What a good way for IDW to end their run with transformers
Reading this book PROVES that Hot Rod was the right choice for the Matrix. One hell of a good read

One of the Best and Last by IDW
Eons have passed since the Great war. Rodimus one of last Cybertronians in the universe has to save the day one final time in this bittersweet story. I liked the art and western feel of it and the story. Even if you don't like Hot Rod/imus this is still a good story. And you get to see him punt Wheelie's head into space. If your looking for a entertaining standalone tell this may have you covered.

I think the art styles great, but story was really depressing the more you read on. 10/10 would recommend!

Really depressing
I like depressing, cynical stories. However, I found Transformers: Last Bot Standing to be TOO depressing and cynical. It is very interesting to be sure. Author Nick Roche crafts this very poignant narrative about the placement of Transformers in a universe they will always make worse, and it can be interpreted in many interesting ways. You can read it as is to be about Transformers, you can bring real-life colonialist readings to it, you could even see it as meta commentary about the Transformers brand. Last Bot Standing is thematically rich in a way that fits perfectly with Roche's previous work on the Wrecker Saga, or even with James Roberts's excellent output, despite the huge tonal difference. However, despite being an interesting story, it really is bleak, and, without spoiling the story too much, I don't like its message and find it to be a bit existentially horrifying.Ordinarily, I would give Last Bot Standing a four star review, as I can step outside of myself and see a good story when I see one despite its bleakness. However, I can't shake the feeling that E.J. Su's art and Rebecca Nalty's coloring is entirely inappropriate for this comic. For whatever reason, Su contributes a very simplistic and cartoony look that not only is vastly inferior to the detailed and realistic work he contributed to Simon Furman's work back in the 2000s, but also is completely unsuited to the moody, existential tone of the story. Meanwhile, Nalty accompanies this with a very bright color scheme that seems more suited to a much cartoonier story. As a final note, while my feelings about this story are somewhat mixed, I do have to give props to Roche for his excellent deep-cut character choices. You don't have to know all these characters to get the story, but it's a nice little reward for long-time fans to see hyper-obscure characters palling around.

A story about a nihilistic PETA ecoterrorist
You know you're of the deep end when you're willing to genocide what's left of the human race because they eat the also endangered cockroaches to survive.

Interesting POV in this comic
I did not know what to expect, but this presents several questions in relation to the lore. A pretty dark story, but is well written.

A very unique entertaining twist on transformers
Received it in close to perfect condition.I loved it from front to back. It's gritty with a side of dark, perfect for those who grew up with the G1 generation, makes you feel the strain time impose on everything. Long story short, everybody can appreciate this story... go read it now!!

Transformers? It is over - - finished!
Overall, Last Bot Standing is an excellent, perspective-shifting Transformers story and one of the last to be told by IDW (they’ve lost publishing rights). Unfortunately this’ brought down by the lack of famous faces and the odd use of imagery from a well known anime franchise towards the end. 4/5Transformers has always enjoyed playing with the Furmanism of “it never ends” but when it comes to Last Bot Standing (and to quote another) “it is over - - finished”!Last Bot Standing charts the final moments of the robots in disguise in an intriguing way that - trying to avoid spoilers - puts a different, intriguing spin on what being the Transformers saviour has traditionally meant. If you’re expecting IDW to roll out a who’s who of Cybertron favourite then you’re going to be disappointed. The main character is a big name but the supporting cast is from farer corners of Transformers lore.

Good idea, poorly executed
This is based on an interesting idea but it could have been executed better. Both the art and writing are average at best. Most of the Transformers that appear in this book are also forgettable. The story is meant to be serious and thought-provoking but the art and character design bring Saturday morning cartoons to mind... I wouldn't recommend.
