New KS3 English Year 7 Targeted Workbook (with answers)

My son is now home schooled and it's been really difficult to find work books targeted to work he would.be doing I'm school. This book looks fantastic and just what we need. The answers are in the back..the question gradually get a bit harder so it challenges him. I'm definitely going to o.buy more of the work books and the text books

Time after time as an elective home educator I have tried other learning materials & while some are indeed excellent as supplementary work, I return to the CGP learning materials every time as my core teaching resources.These workbooks, as with every other resource I have from CGP are clearly written in easy to understand English, full of really useful information you don't always find in a workbook - such as fully worked out answers rather than just the answer with no explanation of how the answer was arrived at.In the case of English, unlike Maths where working out is more straightforward, the answer might be"Any sensible answer e.g. ..." so that you have an example to guide you when there is more than one possible choice of correct answer.These books are invaluable & I cannot recommend them highly enough.Used in combination with the rest of the KS3 English suite these form a solid basis for success in the subject whether you are self studying or using them to support school based learning.With the uncertainty surrounding education over the past couple of years these are more useful than ever before if you have concerns about your child missing out on learning during this time.

As a parent who home educates my son, I have found that every time I receive a workbook by CGP they are invaluable.We constantly find ourselves referring back to the books to help solve problems that my son may be struggling with.The books run alongside the national curriculum so they enable me to support him in staying on task for what is expected of him to know.The books are written in clear text enabling my son to read the pages unaided and learn independently, they also give me an idea of topics we need to work on.The books are set out with both text and images which makes them child friendly.The bonus is the answer pages at the back of the books.

CGP is a brand I know and trust for producing quality workbooks that are appropriately challenging. This is another example.Clear answers are provided at the back of the book for self-marking or even parent intervention. I like the opening pages of ‘How to use this book’ as they are written in an engaging and entertaining way. Clear guidance explains how the topics are structured, question types and details required.Topics cover both reading and writing including: poetry, comparing texts, fiction and non-fiction writing, writing skills. Questions get progressively harder through the topics, helping to build confidence. Extracts vary in length, type and topic. The harder ones reach an entire page, helping to prepare students for eventual GCSE material.I like the emphasis on practising analysing structure in a text. In my experience in the classroom, this is what students find most difficult, so any early intervention is always a bonus. I think both the writing and reading sections are very strong and explore all the core skills for English.A great workbook that will certainly boost English skills and confidence. Highly recommended.

Another great workbook by CGP.This book is for Year 7 english and covers everything for that year.The book has nine sections with them being split into topics (that have 1 or two pages to then).Reading:• audience and purpose• non fiction texts• fiction and plays• poetry• comparing textsWriting:• non fiction writing• fiction writing• writing properly• making it interestingEach section starts with some quick question to get you started.The questions start of easy put grandly get harder. There are some hints on each page to help you.At the end of each section there is a review exercise to test what you learned.There is space between each question so you can write your answers.An answers guide is included at the back which has helpful tips showing what you needed to included in your answers to get the required marks.Overall this is a great workbook which I strongly recommend.
