Don't recommend for scientists
I teach science at a parochial school, and was looking for a daily devotional style book to open class with that would help students connect their faith with science. This book was not what I expected after reading the reviews. There are short, daily entries with stories on many subjects, but the connections are somewhat dubious. For instance, in "Health and Human Biology" an entry is titled "Cigarette Weapons", the chosen scripture is Matthew 15:7-8 (which is about hypocrisy) and the text talks about the dangers of smoking. In just flipping through the book, I found several entries whose purpose seems to be to trust in God because he will protect us from natural disasters or disease (with an example given in the story, of course).Lastly, anyone purchasing this book needs to be aware that the author is a Creationist. The book says, "The spiny anteater is an enigma for evolutionists, because it looks like God assembled it from spare parts left over after He created all the other animals, and it stands in a class of its own. Despite the mass of media messages, the world did not evolve over multiplied millions of years. Scripture confirms the truth that God is the Creator, and that everything in heaven and on Earth was "created through Him and for Him." (p. 269). My personal favorite is from page 337, the day titled, "Living Fossil". "The theory of evolution continues to piece together evidence to support a flimsy framework that new scientific discoveries do not support. The best and firmest framework for understanding our world comes from the Bible, which says, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1)." For me, I couldn't go on after that paragraph. I don't usually return books, but this has zero value for me. I couldn't even bring myself to give it away.

a gift for my husband
My husband takes this devotional on the road. Its a nice size with a hard cover. He loves it. Lots of amazing facts and stories which are tied into scripture. He learns something new everytime he reads it, in addtion to getting the word of God on the go. I plan on borrowing it when I get the chance. Buy two!

Yes, A World of Wonders
In order to be in balance and harmony each day one needs to spend time in scripture. This book offers a daily devotion and short story to ponder and motivate. You will read the word of God and be informed about historical relevant facts. Take five minutes of your day with this book, you will be rewarded. Well bound, attractive book.

Daily devotional triumph
I purchased this book so that I could send "tid-bits" to our younger grandchildren in emails. I'm also a pastor and have been able to use the snippets in sermons and worship preparation. It's not a heavy daily read but the stories are tied to Scripture and can be applied - just what I wanted this year!
