Perfect start for a LEGO 'career'...
My first LEGO set was similar to this; it was a box of bricks and at 4 years old that all you really need. This gives children a great place to start getting familiar with bricks and their assembly and as they get older the pieces can compliment other builds. As an adult they can be by the coffee table to play games like "The Idea Brick" or keep the creative juices flowing. There is NO GOING WRONG with this or similar sets.

Build all the space jets and lasers your alien defenders need.
First things first... box came a little smooshed and looked like someone spilled their lunch on it. Or used it as a murder weapon. The amazon box it came in was fine. It was for my son and I was planning on using the individual bags to fill jumbo plastic eggs for his easter hunt anyways. Not a big deal. The stuff inside was fine. Not like hes not going to spill his snacks on it eventually either that hes not supposed to eat when hes playing legos... For the price it was a super awesome deal. I have a ton of 'sorted parts' latching containers that I had to redo because of how much came with it. The only thing was the box was huge for the amount of stuff inside but that's a manufacturing design.

Great mix of colors and bricks for hours of fun
This creative box has a whole rainbow of different colors and enough variety of pieces to keep kids and adults entertained for days. The price is also amazing--around 3 cents per piece-- considering the usual cost per piece for Legos. With a decent carrying handle on top, the box can also double as a storage container once you take the pieces out of the plastic bags. Pieces come in plastic bags, sorted by color. There is also an "ideas" booklet which gives instructions on how to build a few different simple creations.

Big box! Big wow factor!
Wow! I bought this because of the great price and piece count. But I would have to say I would but it any day at he original price of $65. The box is huge there are so many great pieces and for $37 it’s better then any LEGO set you can find on the market right now!

Great item to keep kids busy
I bought this and couple LEGO build it books as a Christmas gift for two siblings. They absolutely loved it! They were able to build the items in their books and they still have Legos left to build other items. They are still building happily in February.

Good starter set or addition to Lego collection.
This is a good set for starting Lego or adding to Lego collection. Has many different useful parts in a variety of colors. Not enough parts in 1 color to build much in same color but plenty if you mix & match colors - for example if building a roof you need to use multiple color roof parts. The box it comes in is quite big for part count (15'' tall). Over all I like this set.

Box is less than half full but still decent selection.
Im a bit curious as to why you cannot buy a big box with more basic bricks these days. But for a wide variety of variois shapes and styles of legos this price is better than most lego sets on the market today. I would not call this set classic bricks but more of a creative booster pack. I have noticed my son plays longer and is much more creative with these open ended set than those with step by step instructions and very specific parts. I bought a few of the small creative boxes over the holidays and noticed this so I ordered this bigger box and sure enough its a hit. We homeschool so my son is home more than most kids and so he spends a lot more time playing pretend and building with these and a couple other sets. For the creative options its worth it. I just ordered an off brand here on Amazon that is supposed to have 1000 basic bricks. I am looking forward to seeing what my sone comes up with using the sets combined.

Terrific Refill
I bought this to replace Legos used up to make too many Titanics. My grandsons love shipwrecks! Was happy to be able to get the old school colors with a few additional “girly” colors.
