Honestly, I’m sooo picky with self tanners. If I like the color, I usually hate the smell. Fading weirdly is always an issue usually with most brands. This one though… this one is the holy grail of tanners. It does have a mild smell while on and developing, but to significantly less than others (and less ick). It absorbs pretty quickly and I use my bare hands to put it on. Once done, then I quick wash them good and use a brush to do the top of my hands and blend the wrists. You get the most out of the product this way. Mitts are fine, but you waste a lot from absorption into mitt. You may need to use it 2 days in a row if you want a darker tan, but otherwise a weekly reapplication is all you need after. It’s definitely worth the money.As far as transfer goes, if you sweat while wearing it (before you showered it off), it can slightly transfer in rubbing areas. But if you shower, then it doesn’t do that.Add to cart!!!

I’m very pale and cannot tan (and I have a healthy fear of melanoma so I’m not a sun-worshipper). I’ve tried multiple sunless tanners, spray tans, etc and so far this is one of the best tanning products I’ve ever used. I have been using it for about 2 weeks now and I’ve learned a couple of tricks to making this particular tanning lotion work really well and look very natural on me. Like other commenters I recommend a good exfoliation in the shower first. It’ll make the lotion go on very smoothly. Second, I apply a tiny bit of regular lotion (in this case plain ole Lubriderm body lotion) to ankles, tops of feet, wrists, and tops of hands. This helps keep these areas from looking too blotchy and dark and prevents unsightly lotion lines (the tanning takes hours to show full effect so you won’t see lines until much later). I started doing this after the first two applications and noticed a huge difference. Third, REALLY rub in the lotion all over and as evenly as possible, and keep rubbing all over until it feels completely dry. When I did this I got a much more even-looking tan. Then, lastly, this may sound silly but I sit in my bathroom for about 15 or so minutes before getting dressed. I’m not sure if that’s necessary but I just like to make extra sure the lotion is really set in so clothes or such don’t rub off any areas that weren’t completely dried in. Do this and it’ll likely be the most natural-looking fake tan you’ll ever have 😉. Seriously, I’ve gotten compliments. Some people couldn’t believe it was fake. For someone like me who’s very pale, I applied it 3 days in a row to get to the color I wanted and then reapply once every 4-5 days to maintain. Overall, I love this product! (This is also the first time I’ve ever actually taken time to write a review so you know I really do like it!) The only downside is the scent is a tad weird, but since I’m used to sunless tanning products, I never encountered one that didn’t have a weird scent. Well, I hope this review helps!

I read all reviews and purchased the light color bottle first. I got 11 full body applications from it. I never experienced any streaking or uneven application issues but I am careful and don’t get rushed when applying. It takes me 4 minutes to apply evenly and thoroughly to my whole body. I used it strictly as a sunless tanner and have not spent any time yet in a tanning bed or lying out in natural sunlight because I haven’t had time to do either. I saw the color difference after the first application. I applied anywhere from every day to 3-day intervals. The light-tone bottle has an appealing citrus smell upon application. Within 4-5 hrs it turns rancid at least with my body chemistry. I can not apply it and go to bed due to the smell. It made me unable to sleep due to the terrible odor. I will apply and run errands but I won’t apply and go to work in close proximity around other people. I apply and shower or bathe 4-5 hrs later. The color progression was good. I did need to scrub accumulated orange buildup off the tops of my toes and at the base of my wrists. The dark tone bottle is rancid beginning at application. I am on my third bottle-1 light tone plus 2 dark tone bottles over a 1.5 month time period. I do find the color to be on the orange side and not at all like the deep brown tones advertised on Pinterest. But it is possible in my mind that enhanced sun or tanning bed exposure might result in deeper brown tones using this product. I do live in the southern US, and I’ve noticed the orange-based tan is standard here and not the brown tan I was used to living on the west coast of the US. In my opinion the south orange-based tan comes from tanning beds and the fact that sunbathing in high humidity southern temps and a heavy mosquito presence is not conducive. Whereas the west coast tan comes from regular sunbathing in a more temperate climate where it is more feasible to stay outside longer and not overheat as rapidly as in the south. This is only my second sunless tanning product to if others work better I’m not one to waste money trying other brands because these products are so costly. I’m sick of disgusting unsanitary tanning salons-none of theme are cleaned regularly and to my standards of clean.
