Blackstar 40W Digital Stereo Combo (IDCORE40V2)

I imagine that there are purists out there that might find fault with this amp, since it's not "old school" enough (no solid state, no tubes, no individual pedals, etc), but I'm very impressed by its sound quality, functionality, build, and value. First, it's simple to use, and to my ears, makes my guitar sound as big and mean as a junkyard dog or as well-behaved as a fox terrier with just a few taps of buttons and twirls of knobs. It's perfect for my bedroom, and I imagine, could work nicely in an intimate venue. I like having a single device that does it all: it's an amp and a multi-effects pedal that I can plug my iPad into and play along with whatever I'm listening to, and when I need to wear headphones, this amp processes the signal to give the audio presence like it's playing through speakers. It also suppresses noise, so if there's a slight line buzz from your instrument, you won't hear it. Lastly, it's built to last. Two weeks after I bought it, I jumped up to answer the phone, and tripped so hard on a cable that I bent the headphone mini jack to a 45 degree angle. But the amp was completely undamaged. I bought a new mini jack for my headphones and I was good to go. If you're a beginner, this amp is a no-brainer, as it's a great value that sounds great and does everything you need done to the output of your guitar, but I imagine that seasoned players will enjoy this amp as well.

So I think most of the other reviews on amazon and also on youtube and also in guitar gear magazines/websites pretty much cover the tone of the amp. It sounds great. The cleans sound great and the dirty tones rip at very low volumes. For a bedroom amp this thing is amazing. I really can't overstate how much I love the way it sounds at low volumes. I have 5 guitars and they all sound amazing through this amp. I love the way it sounds and I recommend you buy it but...... the first time I tried to move it and forgot to unplug it I destroyed the AC plug. It was totally my fault but it happened really easily. Luckily it's only $15-$20 to replace and I have another on the way but that would literally be my only complaint. Still... Five stars.

Nice practice amp. The distortion channels sound very good, from slightly overdriven, to modern really chunky metal sounds. The delay are pretty good, and the chorus is Ok. You don't get much in the way of modifying the modulation effects on the device itself, but I believe the software that you install on a computer gives you more flexibility. The only issue I have is that if you use the headphone output, the volume does not go super loud. I'm guessing they do that to protect your hearing. All in all, great amp for a great price.

My previous amp was a new '68 Fender Super Reverb that reminded me of my '68 Bonneville 424 sedan that got 10 mpg max. Big, unwieldy, hulking beasts.This little amp reminds me of my '85 Mazda 323 hatchback: compact, great, well thought out features, well built, zippy . . . and so affordable! You won't impress any snobs, but you can park it anywhere, and people are impressed by how clever you are.

I thought the amp would be very high quality and the very good for metal, but no...The delay is very clean but all of the other effects are pretty sloppy. If you are going to record videos with this you better be sure you have a high quality microphone to record with, I used a snowball microphone and I cannot really record high quality videos with it unless I use the delay effect with clean setting. Most likely going to return this and get something better. :(

Straight garbage. Bought one in August, it died, then ordered another power supply that still hasn’t shown up almost 2 months later. I paid over $250 for this soon to be dumped in the landfill POS. Gets one star cause there are no negative stars.

Awesome! Easy to use, great tones for multiple genres/styles right out of the box, built in tuner and effects, option to hook up a footswitch, headphone jack, auxiliary jack. This thing is great. Meets all of my needs. The Blackstar Insider software is very cool as well for finding and downloading artist specific tones.
