This is an Internal drive, so if you use it in an external box, you will get a lot of vibration sound. I highly recommend this drive to back up or play your 4K Ultra Blu-rays.

I'd say this purchase is pretty good, since it came with a bunch of stuff like screws, cables, and some useful support stuff, it also came with 5 free bd-rs, that is nice, i personally prefer verbatim but plexdisc is good for testing. i bought this drive for mainly archiving my stuff and for scanning discs. the only complaint i have is mainly from amazon, and that is as to why you are shipping stuff in a thin plastic bag, this is a high precision device and its being treated like some plastic toy.

Excellent burner, just keep in mind it does not come with a SATA cable.

Just buy the drive by itself, the included software is just free software someone downloaded off of the internet and burned onto a disc, and the singular blu-ray isn't worth $10.

I got this drive mostly to do quality scans when my last quality scan capable drive stopped reading Blu-Rays (blue laser failure, I believe). Quality scans show low level error information of a burned disc before error correction. The drive came with firmware 1.V8 and and did quality scans out the box with the provided PlexTools software. It also worked with my copy of Opti Drive Control.

Straight forward quality, no coasters. Just plain works well.

It doesn't read blurays but will read other dvds is there software I have to install?
