Q: Is it a set of three, two or just one? The photos are very misleading. ]

Just one wrench, as I recall. Has a telescoping handle that allows 3 lengths. Better illustration would be a single wrench with overlaid handle lengths or some animation showing the wrench handle changing lengths.

Q: Love the wrench, but the telescoping feature does not seem to work no matter how hard I retract the collar or pull on the wrench. Advice?

My wrench seems to be working great, maybe your's is defective?
