Great
I have very petite hands and so I was afraid that even their smallest size would be too big. They are a smidge big, but they fit better than I anticipated they would. The thickness is just right so that it doesn’t impeded too much when handling things. If they were thicker, they would offer more protection, but then you’d lose handling. Would buy again.

Great product. Has saved my finger multiple times.
I recently took up wood whittling and am admittedly not very good at it yet. My wife was concerned about my safety and the fact that she didn't want me slicing myself up or losing any fingers. She found this leather finger guard and wanted me to purchase it for my safely, so I did. Fortunately I did make this purchase because this finger guard has saved me from Emergency Room visits a few times now. I have had the knife slip and few times and each time it has gone right into the guard, but the guard has saved my finger each time. If anyone was to slice their finger through this guard it would be me, but I haven't done it yet because it is a high quality guard that won't allow knife penetration. The sizing on the guard is spot on as it fits my finger perfectly and doesn't slip off. The guard is comfortable with the elastic and doesn't cut off the circulation in my finger, but instead stays nice and tight and doesn't shift. The finger guard smells great too, like real leather. Great product. Has saved my finger multiple times.

Great but a little too large for my hands
I just started whittling, so I knew that I would cut myself so I purchased this and the index finger guard. I'm a woman with small palms but long skinny fingers so I thought that the medium might be ok for me. I wish there was a smaller size but I didn't see one with Prime shipping and now that I have it, it is a little too long for my thumb. It's also too fat for my thumb, as well. I know that most whittlers are older men so it doesn't surprise me that it's not the best fit ever. I find that the guard swings around my thumb while I whittle, so it's not the safest thing in the world. You can't see it in the pictures, but the back has to elastic bands, one covers the whole thumb tip and the other is at the base to keep it on your thumb. The lower band is too low for my thumb, so it pushes it up constantly so it's a little awkward. I plan on doing some sewing modifications to get it to fit better. I just wish that there had been the option for the smaller one or that the band on the back was higher so I didn't have to fix it to fit my hand perfectly. The product itself is great, but the fit just doesn't work for me.If you had larger man hands, it would probably be fine. It's too large for a woman with skinny fingers.

Does it's job well, well made.
This is a simple thing, that's hard to get right. This one gets it right, it's thin and comfortable, fits well and is easy to remove and replace. If you "pinch cut" with thumb and index finger using super sharp knives, you know the feeling when you discover that during the last 20 cuts, the blade went into your thumb but you didn't feel it until too late. This handy tool prevents that, as well as other accidents where you get so focused on your work, you forget to plan where that blade is going after it passes the workpiece. Your thumb is one common landing place. (Your off hand is the other popular place, so get a glove for that too). You won't be sorry you have this in your kit!

Falls apart do't buy
Never buy this it doesn't hold up.I bought the thumb guard and finger guard from treeline. When I first put it on the thumb guard didn't fit correctly. It was the right size but the elastic had already been stretched out fully so it would not hold it on.Then twice within 7 days the thumb guard failed to protect me.My blade slipped and it slid through the thumb guard like butter and cut deeply into my thumb each time.It wasn't even a direct stab it was a glancing knick that any leather glove would have held up through. The same week that happened the stitching fell apart on both of the elastic straps it came completely undone.I emailed treeline about this and their response was "We haven't had trouble with the stitching on the guards, they are made in the USA by a lady that does a nice job" and "I always recommend wrapping the guards with some type of safety tape to snug them up and prolong the life".So because the lady does a nice job they don't think it failed. They also say oh use safety tape to wrap them and hold them in place. That is no where in the information about the product. Not to mention if you have to add wrap to the product how is it effective in any way.Don't buy these ever.

A little extra protection.
This product came fast. I received them a few days ago and have already used them for several hours. They took a little bit to get use to, as expected, but now feel comfortable. I do basic traditional carving as a hobby. These have done a great job giving my hands just a little extra protection from routine nicks and cuts that come when whittling or doing details on small carvings.Of course you could still find a way to cut through them I'm sure, but anything strong enough to protect against any cut would be too heavy for my liking, or too expensive.A note on the sizing, I generally where large gardening-type gloves when I buy from Home Depot, and the medium thumb guard fits my hand perfect.I would recommend them as a great option for anyone who does basic traditional carving, and doesn't like wearing full gloves.
