I'm in the second year of use and this is a great tool, well worth the investment. We've all experienced the frustration of seeds not germinating- with this soil block size, germination mat, dome, and lights, germination even for difficult herbs, veggies (especially hot peppers) and flowers has been significantly improved. I typically start seeds indoors in weeks 10 through 4 from last frost date. Before the Ladbrooke Soil Blocker, I was primarily using a 2x2x2" soil blocker and sometimes had issues with germination, likely because the heat mats aren't able to heat such large soil blocks effectively? Not exactly sure. But at the scale I'm working on, any germination issue is a waste of space. With the Ladbrooke, I have much improved germination, I'm guessing due to size of the block. It does require more potting up or change in timing to start seedlings closer to my last frost date, but this is fine- I'd much rather not waste seeds. The Ladbrooke is easy to use, and very durable. It is also very efficient as I typically make 5-10 1020 trays every week and I like that it only requires 3 rounds of blocking to fill each tray. Most weeks, I can mix the soil recipe and complete the trays in under an hour. I do clean it off completely after each use to extend longevity and avoid potential transfer of soil pathogens. A great investment!

...then this is the tool for you. 3 of these will fill a 10x20 tray. Just mix a soil mixture of the right ingredients (peat moss, coco coir, etc), wet it well, and that's it. Spend the money. Get the top-tier gear. Buy once, cry once.
