Does the adhesive mount have to be mounted on a complety smooth surface, or is the adhesive pad sticky enough to adhere to semi-textured surface?

Yes. I have a 2021 Jeep Cherokee, the dash is textured. I used this mount in my old vehicle and LOVED it. I’ve since moved it to the jeep with new adhesive of course, and it’s come off 3 times. All 3 times I’ve cleaned the dash, replaced the adhesive and the same thing happens. My dash has zero smooth surfaces to stick it to. Anyone with a newer vehicle that has a “textured” surface, this won’t work.

I have an iphone6 with a otter case. how thick is the plate attachment that goes on the phone? will my otter case still fit once the plate is attached

I was using a 2-layer Otter like the Commuter series and I put the magnet between the rubber layer and the plastic layer and it worked fine. Then I got the Otter Symmetry series one-piece case, the one that does not have the round cutout for the Apple logo. This case is thinner when installed so it is more comfortable in your pocket, but it is too thick for the magnet to stick properly. I would say that the MagicMount is not compatible with the Symmetry Otterbox case if you want the magnet inside the case. I'm going to try the magnet on the outside of the case, but I don't expect that the adhesive on the metal plate will stick to the case because the case is not a completely flat and smooth surface. It's not a knock on the Scosche, but just an incompatibility with this particular case.

What is the difference between the Scosche MAGDMB and the Scosche MAGDM? They look identical...

I have purchased four of these. I have purchased this SKU both from a brick and mortar retailer and from Amazon. I am 99% certain the B stands for "box" not black, since all of the MAGDMs are black. If you purchase this SKU from a brick and mortar store, it will come packaged in a HORRIBLE plastic blister pack that is EXTREMELY hard to open. If you purchase this from amazon it comes in a 100% recyclable chipboard box with minimal extra paper as well.

What are the dimensions of the baseplate that attaches to the dash?

None of the answers given are correct. The baseplate that attaches to the dash the magnet measures 1 3/4"W x 1 13/16"H

Product is not as advertised. Two things: 1. The neck is not flexible, but hard plastic. Any movement will break the item 2. There are 2 angle bends in the picture shown. The one that arrived only has 1 bend. The neck bends back into the window - is this some kind of bizarre manufacturing fault?? Inconvenienced by having to return item within the same day. This will be one of the last times I buy items like this from Amazon. Guess I'll be sticking to books.

J'en ai acheté 8 jusqu'a maintenant . Pour ma mere,mon ex mes freres mon travail et la j'ai mon compte amazone et je viens d'en recevoir 2 encore parce que cest un produit bien fait et le plastique qui est dessus il ne s'enleve pas a la longue . Il reste toujours en excelent état apres 3 ans d'utilisation. Je sait pas qui fait ce produit m'ais c'est un travail bien fait . Et ca mérite de prendre le temps de vous le dire. il faut bien le coler 1. Si tu netoye bien la surface sur la quelle tu le mets et ensuite tu le pose desus ,tu pousse environ 1 minute et meme deux dessus pour metre une pression , ensuite tu le touche plus tu le laisse 24 h sans le toucher pour que le collant fixe bien. et c'est tres important de vraiment plus le toucher et en meme temps l'installer quand la temperature de ton auto est bonne genre entre 10 degres et 30 degres. et apres c'est collé comme du beton. facon de parler mais je suis super satisfait de votre produit. Merci beaucoup
